Oil draft law not in Parliament yet-parliamentarian Baghdad - Voices of Iraq
Saturday , 14 /07 /2007 Time 11:39:19 </B>
Baghdad, Jul 14, (VOI) – The official final version of the draft oil and gas law has not reached the Parliament yet, a lawmaker said on Saturday.
"The official final formula of the draft law has not been available for legislators yet, and all the opinions given are based on the leaked drafts or media reports", Hamid Majid Mousa, the Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party, said in an exclusive interview with the independent news agency Voice of Iraq (VOI).
"The Cabinet had discussed a number of drafts that later modified into a final version, which is on its way to the Parliament", he added.
Mousa added "according to work mechanisms at the House, the parliamentary oil and gas committee should consider the bill first and make recommendations on its validity and then to refer it to the legal and financial committees at parliament."
As regards the stands of the parliamentary blocs vis-à-vis the draft, Mousa said "there are varying and contradicting opinions even within the single bloc over the bill."
"There is no unified opinion within a bloc over the law and sometimes conflicting views are made among members of the same political formation for some reject the whole idea of the bill and some refuse even the idea of discussing it."
Despite these differences, Mousa pointed out, "the bill is on agenda but not within the two or three upcoming sessions."As for Legislator Mousa's view over the oil draft law, he said "the law is significant for future Iraq as it will be a corner stone for all the country's economic sectors."
"Iraqi economy depends in 95% of its revenues on the oil, which is largest share of national income, and thus we attach great importance to the oil law and for the necessity of studying it carefully to reach an accurate and crystal-clear form that would prevent misinterpretation" he added.

I'd like to say a monkey is more organised and competent but that would be an insult to the monkey. They're neither here nor there and I'm hoping this is more BS to add to the overflowing pot.
This is just the 'official final formula'. We want the official final final final final one !

From Interview With Talibani Yesterday
Interview: Talabani on oil law development
Last week the Council of Ministers approved a draft of the law -- which had already been opposed by oil technocrats, unions and Sunni parties seeking a stronger central government arm -- and sent it to Parliament. Sunni and some Shiite parties opposed to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government are alternately threatening to boycott Parliament or return to oppose the law.

IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A WEEK TO WALK THE DRAFT ACROSS THE GREEN ZONE TO THE PARLIAMENT. I DON'T BELIEVE IT ISN'T THERE YET....

I wonder whats the odds that they go on Recess in August without these bills passed just to defy the US government and the political pressure that they have been putting on? I bet the odds are high. Especially since Maliki said they could do without our forces and we are a hinderence on getting things done.

Naw!! this is what happens when you don't have high paid lobbyists greasing the wheels of parliment. Bush has released funds for reconstruction, went past the press "like a fart in a wind storm". These aren't war funds, they reconstruction funds! The majors are greasing the polititians from Jordan to Dubia to Saudi Arabia to Kuwait, the way it's been done for 5 decades.
But if you are sunni loser or a communist party member, your not invited to the big party, so long as US forces are killing your buddies on the ground!
These folks are in denial, or is that de-nile, or de-tigris, either way thier all wet!! :happy64:
