Iraqi parliament resumes sessions to vote on several bills

The Iraqi parliament opened its 42nd session on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Sheikh Khaled al-Atiya to vote on a number of draft laws, a parliamentary media source said.

The parliament is scheduled to discuss a number of bills, including the draft laws on Iraqi parliament and distribution of land zoned for residential purposes to judges. The parliament will also vote on a first amendment to law no. 78 of the year 1977 on publication in official gazette, the laws pertaining to Iraq's accession to the Agreement of the Islamic Institution for Insuring Investment and Exports, Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

Also on the cards are a first reading of the bill on supporting farmers and owners of agricultural projects and a second reading of the draft laws on the Agreement on International Roads in the Arab Mashreq (East) and Iraq's accession to the Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI), the source added.
