How To Purchase ISX Stocks Through Warka Investment Bank

I Cannot In Good Conscience Keep This Thread Opened To Uninformed Investors. This Is To Remain Closed Until Warka’s Future Outcome Is Finally Resolved.

More Info: Warka Bringing A Lawsuit Against The Central Bank Of Iraq (http://www.investorsiraq.com/showthread.php?171125-Warka-bringing-a-lawsuit-against-the-Central-Bank-of-Iraq)

[NOTE: Warka was the trend-setter but it is now not the only bank/broker in Iraq willing to do business with foreigners, I cannot provide you with broker requirements from other brokers as I don't do business with them. But please don't let that stop you from checking out the competition and doing your own due diligence. You may be interested in brokers like Al-Karmal LTD. (http://www.isx-karmal.com/) or any broker found at the official ISX site ISX-Iq.net (http://72.52.252.89/isxportal/portal/brokerListContainer.html), simply contact those brokers and follow their required procedures.

Please do not send your eMails to Mr. I or the wrong Warka department, doing so will result in the deletion of your correspondence.

“Emails directed to the non-related departments will be removed automatically by our web administrator noting that in accordance with our working procedures senior executive do not handle customer inquiries where it is important to direct your email to the related department at our bank.” – Mr. I - 10/25/2010.

Contact ISX@Warka-Bank-IQ.com (ISX@Warka-Bank-Iq.com) for all ISX related concerns/inquiries.]

For information on selling ISX stock go to: How To Sell ISX Stocks Through Warka Investment Bank (http://www.investorsiraq.com/showthread.php?t=48302)

For information about companies and their current trade prices go to: ISX Company List (http://www.investorsiraq.com/showthread.php?148053-((Read!))-ISX-Company-List...)

---> If this is your first time trying to purchase ISX stocks, you will first need to follow the embassy certification procedures at the following link InvestorsIraq.com (http://www.investorsiraq.com/portal.php?pageid=isx) otherwise you will not be able to buy ISX stocks through your broker.

The requirements will include the following documents certified by the Iraqi Embassy or Iraqi Consulate in your country.

1) Your passport colored photo Copy and government/state ID colored photo Copy.

2) Your full address and contact details.

3) Three sample copies of your signature for verification.

The documents must bear the Iraqi Embassy seal and are to be sent to your broker's mailing address where it will be submitted to the ISX for verification and approval.

Warka Bank as your broker will handle your stock transactions through your Warka Bank account. To keep up to date about ISX company stocks (paid up/free capital shares) please visit the news section at Warka-Bank.com (http://www.warka-bank.com/news.php)

Starting November 1, 2009 trading days on the ISX will be Sunday to Thursday, the market will be closed Fridays. The pre-session period will start at 9:30 am Iraqi time, the main trading session will be two hours from 10 am to 12 pm Iraqi time. So make sure that you send your stock purchase requests a day before the ISX trading hours. Unlike sell orders, you will need to resubmit any unfulfilled buy orders, but wait for confirmation that they will put your buy requests into the ISX system. Keep in mind that in order to buy there must be sellers willing to sell you your desired shares, otherwise your order may not be fully bought or bought at all. Currently there is a minimum purchase requirement of 200,000 shares per company stock.

It may take about a week or more to get confirmation on the status of your ISX request. If your request was executed a confirmation email should include an attached Excel spreadsheet detailing exactly what was executed.

---> To easily keep track of your purchases and your stock profits or losses download the attached Zip file “ISX Stock Profit or Loss” at the bottom of this post. It includes an Excel file with self updating graphs that are only compatible with MS Office 2000 or higher versions. You can still use it with other Office versions or software, just simply delete the graphical boxes by clicking on their edges and pressing delete.

To use the “ISX Stock Profit or Loss” Excel spreadsheet simply fill in the orange/input columns accordingly with your stock info and the rest will be done for you. If you do not have MS Office software, you will need to download the free OpenOffice software that will allow you to view Excel spreadsheets, go to www.OpenOffice.org (http://www.openoffice.org/).

---> There's two types of forms that you may be able to use, the "ISX Proxy Purchase Request Form" if you are already an ISX investor, or the "Non-Proxy Purchase Request Form" for new and current ISX investors who have been certified. Please keep in mind that the "Non-Proxy Purchase Request Form" can only be used once you have submitted the required ISX foreign investor embassy certification document(s) and have been approved. So as stated earlier you will need to follow the embassy certification procedures at the following link InvestorsIraq.com (http://www.investorsiraq.com/portal.php?pageid=isx).

Download the appropriate ISX Proxy or ISX Non-Proxy purchase request form attached at the bottom of this post. Print it, fill it, sign it, scan it and save it as a PDF file. If you don't have a scanner, please go to your nearest copy/printing shop and they can help you save it onto a disk. Now send the PDF attached with your ISX purchase eMail request to: ISX@Warka-Bank-IQ.com (ISX@Warka-Bank-Iq.com)

Here’s an example eMail for an ISX Purchase request:

NOTE: Stocks you purchase might be held under the name of Warka Investment Bank's ISX proxy company. If you have submitted the ISX foreign investor embassy certification document(s), Warka will begin the process of purchasing/placing your stocks/shares under your name. If you are already an ISX investor you can keep your stocks under the name of Warka Investment Bank's ISX proxy company, until you are told otherwise by Warka Investment Bank. But you should consider beginning the embassy certification process now instead of later. Holding your shares by a proxy is a common safe practice in various stock markets throughout the world. You can contact ISX@Warka-Bank-IQ.com (ISX@Warka-Bank-Iq.com) regarding any personal and important ISX issues.

ISX Tips

One of things to keep in mind is not to over analyze this investment and make it too complex.

• Keep it simple and track the things that matter to you.

• Keep note of the highest price amount you paid for your stock against it's current closing price, and make that the deciding factor if you will profit or lose with your stock, if you were to sell it.

• Hold on to the stock until you see the type of profits that are to your liking. Sell fully or partially only when good profits can be reached.

• Do some research on what stocks may likely be more profitable in the future, if possible check a companies historical rises/downfalls, and possible financial outcome. Banks are usually a good stock investment along with a few other crucial industries.

• Try not to make selling/buying decisions on impulse or necessarily on what you may hear in the media or forums.

None of the above is to be taken as financial or legal advice... - AAD

____________________________Important_____________ ________________

Whenever eMailing Warka Investment Bank for whatever important issue, do it around their business hours and preferably in the morning 8-11am Sun-Thurs Iraqi time. Never send them more than one email per day, just be patient for a response. Sometimes Warka Investment Bank may be very busy and what should normally take a few days, can take a week or more. If you also factor in any holidays in Iraq (and Germany if wiring funds) those can also delay the response process. Please don't drown them with eMails because this in the end will affect everyone's response time. Remember for common questions/tips you can always simply ask them here at the forum instead of eMailing Warka with non crucial questions. You can check the current Baghdad time before eMailing them: www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=27 (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=27)

This is a really interesting listing... I dont understand alot about how ISX works but I want to know more. I believe I would be a fool to only hold cash as I am currently doing. So if I can get some confirmation about how to accoumplish a successful ISX investment (I will summarize what I think is the process)

1. get warka account (not exactly sure how but will do it)
2. pick several stocks that I research and interest me
3. use warka order form and email them my choices
(50k shares per company minimum)
4. be patient for them to act as my agent and check spreadsheet to view my account
5. eventually submit the required ISX foreign investor embassy certification document to Warka (I assume this is easy enough)
6. if I read it right, it looks like alot of stocks are around 1.000 IQD/share

...this seems too simple please let me know what I am missing - thanks

Not missing a thing, that sums it up. Just have to be patient on the buy end.

Now that the ISX allows foreigners in the market, has any one updated there Stock request letters to request the stocks purchased in their own good name? The current letter

"(Your Name) authorize Warka Investment Bank to withdraw approximately (2,200,000) Dinars from my IQD Savings Account #__________ to purchase stocks in the following manner. Stocks are to be held by Warka Investment Bank in trust until it is legal for shares to be transferred into the name of "

authorizes Warka to purchase in proxy and deduct fees to do so. It only makes good business sense to them to continue to purchase through the proxy and collect fees when you buy and sell your stocks unless you tell them to you want the stocks in your name.

Has anyone used this current letter or this type of letter authorizing the proxy, but recieved shares in their names?

What I was trying to say with this post was: Some people like myself, want the stock put in their name and have completed all requirements (certified copies and state dept and Iraqi embassy stamps). I have purchased stock months after completing all paper work and receiving confirmation from Warka that they have my stamped ,certified paperwork in their vault. There has been no indication that they purchased that stock in my name. This may be because I was still using the stock request form that mentions” Stocks are to be held by Warka Investment Bank in trust”(proxy). I was asking if others had still been using the template letter or one similar and had received notice that stock was purchased in their name. Having all my stock in my name is my goal and it no longer make sense to have Warka purchase in proxy and charge 1% if in order to transfer my stock to my name they will sell for another 1%, then buy back in my name for yet another 1% then eventually sell for once again for 1%. 1+1+1+1=4% verses buying in my own name for 1% then eventually sell for 1% 1+1=2%

Some people may want to continue with the proxy program, but I was trying to determine if there is a need to add an additional template letter for the people who have completed their paperwork requirements and no longer want to be charged the additional 2% for the proxy program, if in the end we will have too, or want too have the stocks transferred to our name.

Hi ExplorerHot,

Please note that at the bottom of the "How to purchase ISX stocks" posts there are a few attachments. You can use the "ISX Non-Proxy Purchase Request Form (http://www.investorsiraq.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4774&d=1198582597)", this was taken care of many many months ago for such non proxy purchasers.

Happy trading...

Currently, foreigners are not allowed to purchase stocks on the ISX. Accordingly, stock purchase must be done through a proxy, such that the purchase is not done in your name.

Just thought I would let you know, new rules on the ISX mean that any new investor can't use the forms on this web site for buying stocks using a proxy buyer (eg Warka). You have to get various documents and 3 signatures authorised and registerd at the ISX before you can buy any stocks. I also believe that it involves a trip to the local Iraqi Consulate or Embassy but as I've not yet managed to complete the process myself, I'm a little in the dark.
If anyone knows more detail, perhaps they can help?

Sent my info to the Arab American COC yesterday. I expect it back in about two weeks. Signed sealed, registered, yada yada yada.\

At that point I will make copies for myself. Hopefully I can then scan the processed docs and send them to Mr. I with a digital signature and I am good to go. I then hope Mr. I will do the ISX registration of the docs on my behalf in the same manner he set up the proxy account for me. I may have to send the original but that is plan b.

Hope this helps, Good Luck and Good Investing

Dear Mr. X

Your login details will be provided accordingly.

Please note that as we have not received your original documentation our brokerage office has not registered your name in their files and you are kindly requested to send your original ISX documentation to our mailing address to be submitted to the ISX for verification, confirmation and approval. All non original copies have been declined by the ISX and they have requested for the originals to be submitted. (Not sure if this is just for his paperwork or all foreign investors)

Our mailing address is:

International Foreign Relations Department - Attn: (Mr. I's full name here)
Watheq Square - Salman Faiq St. - Hay Alwihda - Sec. 902 - 14th St.

Chaka, I have been very satisfied from the service I have received from Warka so I am not necessarily looking for additional info on brokers. The fact is that I stumbled into dinar and then the isx just this past summer / fall and in regard to choosing Warka it definitely was the the easy path since I was not aware of other options. And it has worked for me. However, I beileve in the two options / Plan A and B way of doing things.

How does one find out about other brokers with the exception of the back alley conversations? Any list of brokers web pages, etc out there?

As time goes on and IIF continues to grow- new members may believe Warka is the only option...which it is not. No attempt to direct investors elsewhere was made nor intended.

Information on other brokers is found on the ISX website.
www.isx-iq.net

It is a page EVERYONE invested in the ISX should visit and be familiar with. Look around because there is plenty of information about brokers, company capital, companies trading and not trading, ISX laws ,past trading session results etc

One thing it is lacking is more properly presented listing of splits-

Once again in my great mastery of the english language I was not clear.:cheeky-smiley-025: In my case I have become pretty familiar with the link you reference. As a matter of fact that is the first page I go to Sun, Tue and Thur. I am familiar with the brokers list however I do not want to send my email out to 20 different brokers without getting info on them first. (yes, the chicken before the egg quandry) I would rather know about them before they know about me.

I am looking for web pages of the brokers so I can look them over before I give them an email address to start spamming me with. All the isx provides is email addresses.

Does anyone have any info on these brokers outside of what is listed on the ISX page?

Thanks, HG

due to the lack of volume there is little incentive to incur additional expenses at this time. This goes along with the additional translations that would be needed for English and other foreigners

Chaka I fully agree, but I'm sure the main reason most of us started with Warka was because they were the one's that welcomed us foreigners first and mostly with ease (at least that's how I felt about it at the time).

I'm sure now that the years have past Warka has good competition out there who are also welcoming foreign investors. But I just don't have the time or energy to post all of their required info, so folks please know that you can post info/procedures for any competitor freely here (or on any "How-to" topic). I'm all for competition, I would have no problem recommending Isx-Karmal.com (http://www.isx-karmal.com/index_en.html) as they seem to be doing a good job (though I'm not a customer I know some who are)...

Thanks for all that great info. Is 2% to sell a lot? I wonder how they compare to others as far as "commission".

I just recently began my processing of using Warka as my 'broker' to buy stocks. So far so good. I scanned and emailed all my documents to them and have received an email from Mr. I.

Is anyone making any money on their investments so far?

Mine took three weeks.

I chased it after two, and it was a week later before they confirmed all was OK. My papers went through shortly after they went to e-trade and the delay was put firmly down to staffing shortcomings at that time within the ISX.

I wouldn't worry, the way things are going lately, the delay is probably a blessing in disguise for you.

It's been more than a week since my documents to get into the ISX arrived at Warka. I tried emailing them at ISX@Warka-Bank-Iq.com and no response yet. Should i wait a couple more days or is there a better email address to use? Just want to make sure im contacting the right department for this.

Hey guys, long time no see!

I've been in IIF for years, however Being in the military has Limited my Access to information aside from Occasional Checking in and reading emails on Stock Splits in ISX.
I've had my account at warka for several years as well as my first stocks

I WANT... I WANT to purchase more ISX stocks.

The big Question is** can I Wire more Money to WARKA via Citibank Swift
Fund my Warka Account and Send Auth Letters for Purchase of more Stocks, BEFORE* (yes "BEFORE") Sending in my ACC Arab Chamber of Commerce/ Embassy Documents?

----
If its possible, I'd really like to purchase more stocks, Before I send my ACC/Embassy Documents......all before my deployment Autumm-Winter 2010. :surprised:

Help and Advice KINDLY REQUESTED :sweating:from MORE THAN just 1 (ONE) Member..... Help request from my Old Buddies who been members since '04, '05, '06,...maybe '07.

I'd like to get answers Before Saturday, as my US Navy life is Busy this time of year.

Thanks and "Viva the REVAL! and ISX!"

Your Old Time pal, Markymarc (mm3-conv, US NAVY)

Hi i have been offically certified today to buy stock in the ISX. Since I am new I use the non-proxy purchase request form correct? Now can I submit the buy order like so.....Purchase ____________ Dinars worth of stock in each of the companies below:

Banking Sector:

1) Babylon Bank- 300,000 Dinar

2) Bank of Baghdad - 500,000 Dinar

3) Dar es salam Bank - 1,500,000 Dinar

4) Al Warka Bank - 300,000 Dinar

Services Sector:

5) Al-Badia for General Transportation - 2,000,000 Dinar

6) Mamoura Realestate - 600,000 Dinar

7) Iraqi Land Transport - 2,300,000 Dinar

Industry Sector:

8) National Chemical Industries - 800,000 Dinar

9) Al-Mansour Pharmaceuticals - 600,000 Dinar

Hotels Sector:

10) Karbala Hotels - 1,500,000 Dinar

In other words I don't want to specify one specific amount of Dinar for each sector. Because the prices for the minimum amount of 200,000 shares will vary and that's all im looking to buy right now. Anything im missing?

Stocks are to be held by Warka Investment Bank in the name of Albus Dumbledore. It is understood between the parties that Warka Investment Bank shall receive 1% in the form of commission at the time of purchasing said shares in the name of Albus Dumbledore . I can double yours and Crow's pick with one note of mine, Nat'l Chem is showing a lot of volatility on low or high volume, plus Chemicals have shown lots of profit this year, I have very good near term feeling on this stock, not to mention it has already tripled for me so far.:cash::cash:

NICE!!! Here comes the hard part...hope to fill 1/2 your orders, and expect to pay near the high price of the day. This market is wild, and you need to save about 30% cash reserves for paid up shares...especially if you're buying banks, most will be raising capital very soon, before June at the latest.

Thanks for good informative tips on stocks. In the UK markets, a penny stock (http://www.hototc.com/), or penny shares commonly suggests to a stock and shares in small cap companies. These companies with a market capitalization of less than £100 million and/or a share price of less than £1 with a put forward spread greater than 10%. Financial Services Authority (FSA) declares a standard regulatory risk warning about penny shares to the public who take part.

What is your point Mathew?

It's normally, a deduction from your account will occur in one or several days from the day of execution of the order. Also you can check ORDER HISTORY on ISX TRADING. You can see your executed order over there sooner than you will see a deduction of the account.

If your trades were carried out on Thursday, they wont appear on your order history page until Sunday at the very earliest.

No need for the :angry::angry:. You are buying in at a very fortunate time. The banking sector is at yearly lows. E-trade is fully implemented. Warka's transaction speed is the best it has ever been. We are no longer waiting two or three weeks to find out if a buy order went through, like back in the 'good old days' of the white boards.

Have some patience and don't fret, all will be OK.

Also Im reading over my shares amounts. Is the amount of shares i have under the quantity column, the deal amount, or the net deal amount? Im a little confused.
