News stories concerning business and reconstruction in Iraq are usually catchy and emotion driven, but never seem to convey the actual reconstruction in Iraq. For example:

BAGHDAD — As summer marches into this dusty desert country, few things become more important than a tall, cool drink of water.

But the country's supply of clean water is being seriously threatened, because of shrinking funds from the United States and an outdated water treatment and sewage system.... Without the funds, water projects have dried up. Last year, 15 water treatment projects were launched across Iraq. This year, none is planned, Misconi says.

This makes it sound like new water treatment plants are not being built! :mad: But Ive helped design some and I know we have one on the way and just put in a bid for another. And with another 80billion for Iraq, a lot of that will go for water and sewage projects. Plus check out the US AID section on water and sanitation:

ï PCO has 80 water treatment projects underway and has completed seven
date. Under the AIRP program, there are a further 13 water treatment
under construction and 35 have been completed.
ï In total, there are currently 95 water treatment projects, 8 water resource
projects and 74 rural water projects (wells) under construction. Nineteen
projects have been completed, with an additional 18 underway.
ï The Baghdad Municipal water system is undergoing renovation, replacing
repairing water pipes in Sadr City.
ñ With approximately 32km of main and connection pipe installed to
project expects to be completed by the end of December 2005.

I've read an article about two weeks ago about the water plants that were completed, being constructed and the plans for more. I can't remember where I saw it but it was one of the Middle East papers. It's a shame when you get better and more accurate news from other countries and not your own huh!!! I think the Liberals in this country need to get out of America and find another place they can push their socialistic and communitstic ideas.

:happy64: I am so glad to see the american people wake up to the media bias that has been occuring for years, and the news coming out of Iraq should be proof to most anyone, It has gone past ( reporting ) the news to (making ) the news in an effort to sway the public one way or the other, usually the other.

...wish things wouldnt have got so personal here, but Im glad you guys agree that most reporting on the reconstruction in Iraq stresses the negative aspects of the situation. Some may be politics, but I think most bad reporting is more interesting & captivating than a boring good report about yet another well drilled or another sewage plant built. Frankly people dont care much about that, so why report it?

My dear grandmother who I spent the weekend with hears the daily reports on the radio, cnn news, evening news, and the newspaper, and easily comes to the conclusion that we never should have liberated Iraq and there is no hope for the place. I try and slip in the good news when I can, but it hardly effects her. I do not hope she leaves the country Billrock, and she is not socialist! Just fed bad information, I think. Obviously there is bad news out there, but you need both sides of the story to make an informed decision. The American public will have to find that on their own Im afraid. Even Foxnews wont babble on about yada yada reconstruction projects and aid given to the poor there.. They need ratings and advertisers too.

Actually some of the news I see appears to show a more realistic story. I think the voting coverage was excellent. I think it's a hard story to cover, as it's dangerous one day and safe the next on the same corner! I don't think a lot of Americans realize the diverse backgrounds Iraqi people have. Nite and day as far a politics and religion. Maybe Iraq should get divided up into threes and split. Only kidding, but sometimes, I think that might be the only option. I am really pulling for them, and I don't really know if they can pull this off and get a govt elected that can actually govern the entire country peacefully. I'd like more coverage on our soldiers.

I always notice it's the liberals who attack you personnally when they read something they don't like. I don't even know you, and I do have a life....I'm always reading and learning something new. I welcome other peoples views and trying to look at the facts from all different angles, but I'm only stating what I see, hear and read... Now if their was a place in the media where all I heard was Everything is fine and dandy in Iraq, that also would be right wing propaganda, but you don't see that....But I'm glad that you are keeping with the liberal life style by attacking people you disagree with instead of finding facts.
