Three British troops have been killed in Afghanistan by suspected "friendly fire", the Ministry of Defence said.

The MoD said the soldiers, from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, were killed on Thursday at around 1830 local time (1500 BST).
It is understood the soldiers died when US fighter planes, called to support ground troops, dropped a bomb near their patrol in Helmand province. Two other soldiers were also injured. Next of kin have been informed.

Now we wait for the cover up.

Too late for a coverup.
In all reality, these are the facts of war.
Friendlys die from friendly fire in every single war.
It's regretable but it is a fact. Voyeur.:crying:

Your reality perhaps but how often have we heard of BRITISH soldiers killing Americans in friendly fire in Iraq? NOT ONE TIME. Yourselves, at least three times...

What does this mean? You either hate us, are bad shots or are simply trigger happy!....

Whilst I accept that statistically it happens why is it our boys that always cop it??

The worst part is NOT the fact the U.S. forces actually do it but the fact that they cover it up in the name of 'national security' until one of our tabloids gets hold of the info and plasters it all over the Net.... Embarrassment, more like....like when the CIA got the address for a 'Yugoslavian' military target out of the phone book and then found out it was the Chinese Embassy...

Why does it happen to the British troops but not the American troops Kev?

1) Perhaps it is because of the number of American troops compared to the number of British troops in the conflict.

2) Perhaps the British gave an incorrect grid when requesting fire.

3) Maybe you are correct and they just didn't like them.

4) Maybe they read this forum and think all the Brits behave as you do? :drunk:

My point being there could be a number of reasons. I am sure that most people realize however that it was surely not intentional.

Please stop jumping up and down every chance you get to bad mouth my country.

Kev, England is our greatest ally, do you really think that they did this on purpose? Have you served? Do you know how it works exactly? All governments have their problems, both of us are from a country that we do realize this.......Mistakes happen. We all feel that this is a tragedy, and I also feel that information like this, brought to a forum of alot of English, and Americans isnt a great idea. I think that we all get along on here pretty good......Sorry

Didnt we get shot up some months back, again?, then our troops had the flag up to show 'friendlys', think it was a convoy of some sorts, correct me if I am wrong here....well I know someone on here who will....:lmao:, didnt the two USA pilots try to cover up this 'mistake' back then, while even speaking about it over the air waves knowing full well what they had done, if memory serves me right the USA government had a good go at covering it up as well. I think the only reason it got real good coverage was because one of our very popular and well known news readers got hit as well.
