U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, this morning called on the Democratic leadership in Congress to condemn the full-page advertisement that appeared this morning in the New York Times suggesting that General David Petraeus is a traitor.
“Every American, including a Washington special interest organization like MoveOn.org, has the right to voice their opinion on the Iraq war. But to suggest that the four-star General leading the fight against al-Qaeda in Iraq has ‘betrayed’ his country is abhorrent.
“General Petraeus has dedicated his life to securing American liberty and protecting his fellow countrymen. He and all who serve under him are fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq to help ensure that we do not have to fight them here at home.
“This is an important moment for the Democratic leadership, which as the New York Times Magazine reported yesterday, has been working closely with MoveOn.org to coordinate opposition to the conflict in Iraq – will Democrats in Congress stand by and say nothing as their liberal allies attack the patriotism of our military commander in Iraq or will they condemn this disgusting personal attack on his character and integrity?
“There should be a full and honest debate on the war on terror. Americans can have that debate because the brave men and women in our military have fought and died to defend that right over the years. But hateful, personal attacks that call our military leaders traitors should be condemned. It is my hope that Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will disassociate themselves from this attack, condemn it, and cease further coordination with MoveOn.org.”
NOTE: The Politico newspaper reported Friday: “‘No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,’ noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.’

When are Americans going to say enough is enough?
What makes these liberal Democrats think that they have the right to disrespect this man in such a manner. I am quite positive that 99.9% of them have not even come close to doing as much for our country as this man has. It's disgusting that they are able to do this with no recourse.

Have you ever watched an interview with the President. He talks circles and cannot answer any question, but turns it into another question.......Bush is war hungry. Being former military like yourself, I just feel sorry for the troops that keep on fighting. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Look at yourself, you can't even talk specifics. You just parrot what the far left says. "Liar, liar, liar".
Did Bush lie when Saddam violated the ceasefire agreement? Of course not. It was Saddam who violated 16 UN resolutions. It was Saddam who corrupted the oil for food program and began using the revenue for terror : such as paying suicide bombers to hit Israel.
And regarding WMD, Bush received info from the CIA as well as British intelligence. Liberals say having inaccurate info is the equivalent of "telling a lie".
By that standard, you yourself are a liar.
Say it with me "LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER".

Sure, other countries could do more. Thats an ideal situation. But when other countries like Europe allow horrible things to happen in the world, it doesn't mean that we need to do the same.
You have revealed yourself as an America hating liberal with your previous comments. Now you are in damage control.
The troops don't need our sympathy, they need our support. They need victory. Stop talking down the nation, and start talking it up. Be a patriot, not another one of these whiny liberals throwing a tantrum.

FYI
Regarding WMD,in the book "Saddams secrets" , the iraqi general states GW was right and so were all the dems who said iraq had wmd. He said they shipped them to syria in 100 semis, which I remember seeing on satellite photos going into syria before the war even started and he also said they used single engine planes to send wmd to syria. He also said we are correct now in saying there are no wmd because they were all sent to syria. This is from a christian general under saddam who was one of the few he trusted because he was christian.

The thing is, we lack clear evidence either way. Maybe there were sophisticated WMDs, on the other hand, maybe he just denied the weapons inspectors for the fun of it and gave up his WMDs?
But for liberals to say that this means "BUSH IS A LIAR", reveals them as dishonest and hateful. It shows that they are willing to do ANYTHING to achieve political power. Even if it means weakening the nation in a time of war.
If this war was more serious, we'd have to intern these people in camps to prevent them from sabotaging our war effort. Luckily, war with Iraq is a low level war for America, so we have thus far tolerated the hateful rhetoric...

Two conclusions can be reached using this mentally defective logic:
1) Senate Dems also betrayed their country
2) Senate Dems were fooled ONCE AGAIN...i.e. they are too stupid to recognize lies when they see them the first time around
The result: Whether they themselves are party to treason or too stupid due to being constantly taken advantage of, both conclusions show CONCLUSIVELY that Dems are NOT capable of wielding power, and should be cleaned out of office.

George Sada also said that that they gutted a couple of commercial airliners and packed the WMD's into them for shipment to Syria. They only had six months or more while the UN debated how they were going to protect their man in Baghdad.
As far as the "liar" mantra, this is a Stalinist tactic which has been adopted by Sen. Carl Levin in order to discredit all information about the current situation in Iraq. It now doesnt matter what anyone says, the liberals will not believe it and will not research the issues for themselves. They float disinformation regarding any reports before the reports are issued giving the impression that the drafter is a liar. The MSM are all too happy to indulge the left and will not print retractions where anyone can find them.
We truly have two camps in the U.S. and I doubt the Democrats will stop with the divide and conquer approach to politics as long as it works. They could'nt give a rats @$$ how it hurts the nation.

To make this statement you obviously have not been paying attention to whats going on In Iraq and I find it hard to believe that you invest in Dinar. Everything we hear about Dinar is the opposite of what the Dems are saying.
Without Democracy in Iraq with Capitalism the Dinar is dead. Islam does not believe in capitalism and the Dinar would take the same path as the Iranian currency which is worthless. So if that your view GET OUT OF DINAR. you might want to back of the steroids a little

Their for sure needs to be democracy in Iraq, I just think that things would move a hell of alot smoother with people that actually cared for their people and not themselves. Dont get me wrong the Dems that are running are nothing to brag about either. I really do not know who will or could possibly win the next election. Guys,
One thing I do know! Millions of men have died so that we may be free. That freedom gives us the right to question our governments and express our own opinions.
Whatever your views you should celebrate that fact and thank those who have laid down there lives for that Freedom.
To call into question and insult someones patriotism just because they do not share your views is a poor way to excersise that freedom.
Why bother having that freedom at all? We may as well be under the heel of a Communist or Nazi boot following orders agreeing with whatever the government does and persecuting those who question.
Now I will step down off my soap box and let you continue bickering.
If anyone thinks Sadamm did not have WMD's ... why don't you just ask Kurds what they think about that?? You can start by asking the Kurds from the 400 villages Sadamm completely destroyed. Remember - WMD does not = a nuclear weapon... Let us also not forget all the Democrats that were moaning and complaining that WE WERE NOT GOING INTO IRAQ AND TAKING SADAMM OUT DURING THE REGAN/BUSH ADMIN.... Let us not forget the all the UN resolutions Sadam broke or the cease fire.... The list goes on and on by the way....Yea it may seem like we are trying to police the world... but that's just because, agenda or not, we are the only ones who don't close the blinds and look the other way when people are being slaughted like cattle... and even after we are spat in the face for our efforts each time we continue to do the right thing.

Sure, questions about the direction of government or policy matters are legit.
Saying the government should pull out of Iraq, or should not have gone in, is a legit viewpoint.
But when you instead throw out attacks against the country like "THE PRESIDENT LIED US INTO AN ILLEGAL WAR", you have crossed the line of thoughtful debate and moved into plain America hating, which is unpatriotic.
Its good to review these basics.

Warkaholic,
I'm prior enlisted as Mr. "Pump" Is (officer/enlisted). It perturbs me that you think someone saying " THE PRESIDENT LIED US INTO AN ILLEGAL WAR" is America hating. It is quite the contrary, it is excercising one of the most basic concepts which makes our country a shinning example of democracy. I have fought and was willing to lay down my life for a person's RIGHT to say things like that. You can be mad at the phrase, you can say it isn't right, you can even say the person is an idiot, but please don't call them someone who hates America, because then you just sound uneducated.
Some of you need to realize there is no such thing as "Democrats" and "Republicans" in this world. There may have been concrete differences back in the day, but the two groups that will always hold true are the "HAVEs" and the "HAVE-NOTs". But to believe that democrats and republicans are as different as night and day is to be a jackanapes.

I suspected that this was the case during the Bush/Kerry debates. I asked why Mr. Bush did not lambaste FrankenFace "Botox John" Kerry with the evidence of WMD movement to Syria and the only answer that I could think of was his concern of angering the Russians. Personally, I wouldn't mind the rag being tied to the bush and letting the world know where Russia STILL stands, but I'm only an insignificant little guy busting my butt daily on the big rat wheel called life.

Did everybody see who supported the full page add in the N.Y. Times, and who denounced it. What a shock-Nancy Pelosi came out against it, but most of her liberal,left-wing dems didn't. Clnton,Obama,Edwards,Kennedy,Reid, and most of the dems SUPPORTED it. If this was during WW2, they would have been shot as traitors. What is our country coming to when the dems want in power so badly they would let our country go down in defeat-not on the battlefield- The USA can NOT be defeated there, but in Washington-shades of Viet Nam!!!!!!!!!

And for all of you that think we will not see a Republican in the White House anytime soon-well, it's gonna happen in 2008. This country will NOT elect a left-leaning liberal democrat.By election time, Iraq will be on the road to recovery, and in the years to come George W. Bush will be exonerated, and will probably go down in history as a great President. You read it here first!!!!!

One would think since the Twin Towers that where taken down by the terrorist were located in New York, that maybe the New York Times would be the most out spoken to protect and honor New York, not forget 9/11 and do everthing to help the fight against terrorism.
Instead what do they do, leak military information that may help the terrorist, forgetting all who were lost on 9/11 and now they try to dishonor one of our most highly respected military officers.
What a disgrace to America the New York Times has become.
