I am not trying to get anyone excited... I just wanted to open up a forum to any information on a date!

The only date I've heard is this Monday (19th). Perhaps because of the bond issue on Sunday, I really don't know. For what it's worth this same source is suggesting between 20 and 60 cents. :confused:

I asked a similar question to Jared about how long the window to purchase at the current rate would remain open, so here is his repsonse to me, given he knows more about this than any of us here....
It will all depend on the opening of the currency to the world market.
With how fast things are starting to go, it is entirely possible that August 1st will be the opener. I still think the opening on the FOREX market will be October-November, but many things are in place way ahead of what I had written down on my "to do" list.
J, on the newsgroup spoke about the 20 cents per day thing. Not sure what that exactly was, but it is starting to look as though they may try to shoot for an opening even with the dollar.
I see the dinar hitting about $4 at it's prime, and that will be in about 5 years. So if it hits a dollar and you are then able to still buy, then yes, there is still room for a nice profit. The problem is that the profit margin will be nothing compared to what it is now. There are just too many factors out there that need to come to light before a good prediction can be made. I did not think their stock market would open until the IMF got in there, because that is what the IMF is coming in to correct. This could go up very, very fast.
Wish I could give you a better view on this, but the zipped lips of the IMF, ICB, and WB are making this very difficult to judge. They are not issuing small press releases, they are releasing major moves. That frightens me and excites me at the same time. It seems like it is moving too fast and then I find articles that are months old where they have finished parts that I didn't know they started.
WB=World Bank
IMF=International Monetary Fund
ICB=Iraqi Central Bank
Take from it what you will ;) Alot of different factors will determine what date it exactly opens. I would bet pretty confidently that it will certainly open by the end of the year.

Does anypne have concrete info on an opening date or are these just rumors?
We have heard many dates from Monday until after the election next year.
But, only good guesses.

We should all put 1M dinars and guess the date. The winner takes it all.

Currently the only one that would have a concrete date would be the Central Bank of Iraq. There are many factors that have to be figured in. There is little info on the net as to what the steps are, how many have been completed or how many are left.
I don't think Iraq is going to lay all it's concerns on the US elections. Iraq is still going to be Iraq regardless of who is in the oval office. The World wants to see Iraq get back on it's feet so all are trying to help. If they would release more info we could better guess what the date will be, but since they are not saying much, all we can do is wait. If the WB rolls in this month, I could see November as a release month. But it all depends on what is done and what is left to do....

With the dinar so low, Uncle Sam's dollars are going a mightly long way in reconstruction, salaries and other local costs. Remember, what's good for the dinar is bad for the dollar. I can't see them rushing to change that anytime soon. I was really thinking it would go global in September, but some of the arguments presented here are making me reconsider, perhaps Jan 05 is more realisitic... :confused:
