ok, I know we've discussed this before, but I'd like to devote a thread to this. Some of you out there have successfully registered your business in Iraq and are experiencing the benefits. Congrats! To those of us still trying, please add any helpful info!

I'm attempting the I-ACCI route, since I am now a member with them! Here are their requirements:

Requirements for registering a branch or a representative office of a foreign company in Iraq:
1. A copy of establishment contract or its equivalent issued by the concerned authority in the native country.
2. A copy of the establishment certificate.
3. Final budget of the last fiscal year including profit and loss statement.
4. An official letter of authority issued by the main office signed by the concerned official or manager, to start the process of registering a branch office in Iraq. The letter should include the following:
a. Company information.
b. Name and signature of the authorized person (can be the legal advisor of the company) or agency responsible for registration with the registrar (the authorized person will be receiving all the notices on behalf of the company) and he will be responsible for collecting receipts on behalf of the company.
c. Name of the Agents providing legal services for the company in Iraq.
d. Name of the employee responsible for handling the company or branch office activities in Iraq.
4. Two copies of accurately filled company registration form. The authorized representative will be responsible for all the legal liabilities and for the accuracy of statements provided.

Notices:
1. The documents should be authenticated by the registrar or any similar authority with the official seal.
2. The authorized person or the individual responsible (Manager) for company activities in Iraq should be residents in Iraq.
3. The original passport (for foreigners), or Iraqi identification card (Iraqi national) of the authorized person should be presented when submitting the application.
4. For any branch or representative office, retail practice requires (USD 100,000) to be deposited in a bank before the end of real selling operation.
5. If application is incomplete or it does not satisfy the legal conditions, then it will be returned.
The chamber will adopt the registration in terms of procedures mentioned above. The member or applicant should submit the required documents as well as the duty of the services stated below.

• The duty is (USD 500)
• The official price of registration i.e. (ID 200,000)
Certificate of branch or representative office will be issued within one week after the date of document submission.

Also, they charge for translating articles of incorperation (legal liabilities) and other reports.

I posted previously the instructions from www.export.gov/iraq :

with this method, you would need to find a legal representative who would help you submit the documents. K**** consultants for example.
