So when the dinar hits, and you cash a little in, or when you triple your money on the ISX, will you start a business? Non-profit? or more profit?

couch-potatoes-r-us or "come cruise in my yacht"?

Just wanna be your own boss?...nice night for dreaming... :happy26:

I'm voting maybe, but not if I'm bored. I have 4 true businesses now and a 5th adventure that should be one also. If I cash in, I'm going to start again only if it doesn't feel like such a life and death struggle every day. This 80 hour/week with no time off isn't my idea of fun. The problem is, I don't know that I could stop, either. I figure that at one level of worth, you have a full time job watching it and spending it. The next level up, you don't need to watch it so you are open to doing something else.

I think I might like to do a lot of the same things I am doing now, but be able to do them without needing to do them. I don't know if that makes sense to everyone, but I think that anyone remotely in my position will understand that completely.

I've got a few things I would like to do, also. I've been trying to do them, but just don't have the time to start a 6th project when I barely can keep up with the first 5.

I think I would definitely take some time to just sit back and enjoy the feeling of being completely financially secure. I'm not sure how I will react to not having a carrot perpetually dangled in front of me. Maybe I won't sit back. Maybe I will give into an ever increasing need and desire for more. Maybe it will be a game I enjoy, making more money without the pressure of having to. That's usually when you make the most, when you need it the least.

Every night is a good night for dreaming. I find myself doing it more and more lately. If things go all to hell, I'm not sure how dissapointed I will be. I know that I will be. I'm still trying to decide what this is to me. Is it a dream of a better life? Is it an ego thing to have more than someone else? Am I trying to prove to myself that I can do something big or am I just trying to convince myself that I am worth something through money. Maybe its a deep seeded drive to provide for my family. Perhaps, it's a compulsion driven by some mental illness. I haven't ruled that out. There are a lot of possibilities and I honestly don't know which one or combination is the drive in this. God, I could really use this Dinar thing working out.

nice, ultimately I would like to do a charity type of thing too. Something grander that could really help people... You'd have to be really wealthy to sit back and manage a non-profit and not worry about feeding the kids or what not... God help us !

I'll build a nice big shop and equip it with lots of nice shiny machine tools, a well equipped electronics bench, finally learn Solidworks, keep a clean section for my computers, and some space to expand into if I need new toys.

Then I can build my Batmobile, overthruster, or any of the dozens of ideas languishing in my notebooks.
(Some employers don't like personal projects on the clock)

Maybe give Professor Membrane a run for his dinar. :D

Oh, and build my dream home and find someone to share it with.

I'd have to go with what you said Sporter; I want to give back with what was blessed to me. Then I'm going to Disney World to party with Mickey for a while before traveling around the U.S. in my brand new, Class C, motor home. Then I'll purchase a Caterpillar skidsteer with several of the attachments and a Ford F-350 King Ranch to pull it, and start a small excavation/landscaping business.

well here is my plan as of 10:45 pm:

first off, i am a graduate student so i will finish my Ph. D., in leisurely fashion. after getting my fill of world travel, i will settle down by purchasing an oregonian vineyard and growing some top-notch pinot. eventually along the way, i want to buy a nice place in the caribbean (maybe even my own private island) and age gracefully until the end of my days.

HaHa...here is a funny story for you...actually, i have a girlfriend and when we would *joke* about getting married, i said that i wouldn't marry her until i could afford a wedding she would deserve, one just like tiger woods' wedding (he spent 10's of millions of dollars, rented out 2 entire resorts, etc.). funny, now that i may be a couple steps closer! of course my friends say that once you start joking about it, your clock is ticking...

I would attempt to start a business of some kind, probably computer/Linux consulting or something of that nature. I like the landscaping idea, too. Of course, I like just about any idea :drunk:

However, I don't think I'm going to have much left after paying off the car, house, and getting my daughter's college squared away. Hoping to send another piddly sum to Warka on Friday.

For me, it's about paying off the house and then being able to fully enjoy the paychecks that I currently receive. I would be an idiot to not be able to retire VERY comfortably if I can avoid paying a house note!

When the dinars take off. I have decided to start a new business. I and my company will be collecting North Pole Butterflys....I believe no one has been able to do that yet. So I want to be the first.

A rare find it would be. Be worth a lot of MONEY :lmao: :happy26: :lmao:

A big AMEN to Sporter's post. This would have to come first for me also.
As for starting my own business...I have 2 already, small scale. No real big money in either. But we survive.
Would really like to invest in land and rental property of some sort, bought and paid for. In other words, self sustaining, and then my real desire would be to practice, practice, practice and play golf for about 6 months to a year, and then try to qualify for the Champion's Tour (Senior PGA). Probably a dream that want never come true, but I still like to dream. And you never know, I was a 2.2 handicap just last year, but have not played but about 6 times since October. Maybe getting to old though to be a realistic dream. Something needs to happen pretty soon.

I most likely would, but not right away, LOL, first i'd tide to our chapel, then pay off all debts (house, cars, etc.) I'd also like to donate to St. Judes Children Hospital. Once all of those are taken care of and we have a month long vacation, LOL......then i'd consider opening up a business, maybe a water store, very popular back in AZ, but i haven't seen one here in Michigan.

I would agree with Sporter, too. I would do some charity work, and maybe even dabble in some more foreign currency from another up and coming democracy.

Maybe I would start a survival company. Build some super bomb shelters and sell annual memberships to be able to use them. Maybe I could franchise it out to other cities and when travelling you could "register" in your new area to get instructions on where to go while travelling. Provide food, water and shelter in times of emergency to those with the forethought to provide for themselves while being incapable of accomplishing the requirements on their own. Basically a bomb shelter co-op of sorts.

A quick story about water.. I lived in Palau for a year. the only water we had came from 2 bomb craters next to my hut. the rain would keep them full. there was a gator living in the pond you just never know which one he was in. we would pump the water out of the pond and filter it into a big holding tank.. sometimes we would have to go in the pond and unplug the hose nozzle. what would you do for good safe water?? . we use to throw out our dog NUTZ in the pond to see if there was any movement. only took the dog 2 seconds to get out. yes i know survival was filmed there but on a small island where no one lives . there is only 2 places that has white sand there. the other is a man made beach at the koror hotel.

That's a start and definitely the right idea. Just scale it up like a hotel and sell annual subscriptions entitling people to enter in case of disaster. There would be some other issues to deal with a more commercial venture.

I also haven't ruled out building something like that for myself. I probably sound like one of those crazy survivalist people, but in reality I find it fascinating. There are lots of issues that need creative solutions and there is a lot of hands on work. It takes everything from construction know-how to electromagnetic theory (put that physics degree to work!) to build a decent doomsday resort.

If this pays of big then I won't work again. I would much rather spend my days discovering the wonderful world we live in. Scuba diving beautiful reefs and ghostly wrecks... Safaris in Africa.... Treking through Asia... Hiking and climbing the Rockies... There wouldn't be enough time in the day to work.. one exception, if you call it work would be to possibly sell the photographs i will take on the way.. or get someone to sell them for me to ensure I can carry on travelling!

This is the reason that I find this all just so hard to actually believe. I mean I do believe, but sometimes it just seems to be so incredible for me to have stumbled into. You all have great dreams, good ideas, and such selfless hearts. I am there with you. I also want to give a portion to some charities. I watched both my grandmothers die of cancer. They were both such wonderful people that I have been giving to the Cancer research for years. I will do more for that cause certainly. Cancer is an awful awful thing I would like to see end someday. Like a few others I want to take care of my family, play a LOT of golf, have a really whipass bassboat, pay off my home on the lake, and of course spoil my lady endlessly. What a life right!! This time last year I was trying to figure out what to do after the military. So I decided to go to IRAQ for a while and save some money. Well look at me now......:) Could this really be possible?? WOW!!!

I second that. One thing I'm planning on doing is to, and she doesn't know this yet, fully fund all expenses of a friend of mine who travels throughout the world as a missionary (She does it during her time off of work). She has a HUGE heart for helping people throughout the world (In fact, she's in Argentina right now working in an orphanage that has limited water supplies, no plumbing, feasting on rats(yes, rats!), etc.). I see that that's her passion in life & I want her to be able to go on these trips whenever she wants without $$ being deterant.
