This is a nice find PKG,
Global warming is just another attempt from the UN and its croonies to set up a worldwide revenue stream of taxation, and also economic control.........some people believe that we are about to slip into another cooling cycle in the next 5-10 years, and that will finally stop all this nonsense.
We have so many variables that cause climate change that are not even being discussed it rediculous, for example METHAYNE GAS (or hydrates), not from animals (thats kind of a ridiculous claim also) but that is in the earth, and escapes into the atmosphere through the ground and through the oceans and seas of the world may be responsible for 40%(maybe more these things are impossible to measure)?? of the overall problem................maybe some of these intellectuals should stop flighing around on their private jets and stop burning 2000 gallons of fuel every round trip, the hypocracy of this stinks of more that man made methayne........

I'm with you on that. We all have a responsibility to act as good stewards of our planet. Discussions of how to go about that should be less about politics and personal enrichment (Algore comes to mind), and more about viable solutions with real results.

PKG, thank you for a great post. It makes me sick to see what is about to happen to the US through the new treaty we are about to engage in. By slowing our economy even more with carbon mandates etc. while China and Russia are the MOST polluted countries on the face of the Earth..And of course America is the Big Bad culprit. They will not be happy till we are back in the stone age and I for one, will not go there easy. Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all the Super IIF'ers

Specifically, the "consensus" about anthropogenic climate change entails the following:
1) the climate is undergoing a pronounced warming trend beyond the range of natural variability;
2) the major cause of most of the observed warming is rising levels of the greenhouse gas CO2;
3) the rise in CO2 is the result of burning fossil fuels;
4) if CO2 continues to rise over the next century, the warming will continue; and
5) a climate change of the projected magnitude over this time frame represents potential danger to human welfare and the environment.
These conclusions have been explicitly endorsed by ...
Academia Brasiliera de Ciências (Bazil)
Royal Society of Canada
Chinese Academy of Sciences
Academié des Sciences (France)
Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina (Germany)
Indian National Science Academy
Accademia dei Lincei (Italy)
Science Council of Japan
Russian Academy of Sciences
Royal Society (United Kingdom)
National Academy of Sciences (United States of America)
Australian Academy of Sciences
Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and the Arts
Caribbean Academy of Sciences
Indonesian Academy of Sciences
Royal Irish Academy
Academy of Sciences Malaysia
Academy Council of the Royal Society of New Zealand
Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
In addition to these national academies, the following institutions specializing in climate, atmosphere, ocean, and/or earth sciences have endorsed these conclusions:
NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS)
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
National Academy of Sciences (NAS)
State of the Canadian Cryosphere (SOCC)
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Royal Society of the United Kingdom (RS)
American Geophysical Union (AGU)
American Institute of Physics (AIP)
National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)
American Meteorological Society (AMS)
Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS)
I'll take this "consensus" over the 400 "scientists" handpicked by Sen Inhofe for his minority skeptics report.

I am a lefty (basically) but I have always been dubious of the science used to defend global warming. I mean yeah... we do bad stuff tot he planet and we should stop. But the whole ozone theory has huge holes in it (pun intended).
It might carry more weight with me had I not lived through the whole "new Ice Age" scare of the late 1970's.

Why is every politicans answer to a problem raising a tax to fix it? The line of you paying to offset a car driving still doesn't stop that car from driving.

As much as I hate to do it, you have to give algore credit. He took an idea that wasn't even his and promoted it until it makes him filthy rich.
I would bet anything he KNOWS its all a bunch of carp but cha-ching!! Flying around on private jets telling people to hang thier laundry outside instead of using a dryer, and they pay him.

The biggest problem stemming from this global warming scare is this stupid notion that we all of a sudden need to grow corn in every field, backyard, and alleyway from the Yucatan up into Ontario and Saskatchewan to feed this biofuel craze. Ridiculous! Corn depletes the quality of the soil, takes massive amounts of fertilizers and pesticides, (massive fertilizer kill zone extending down the Miss River, and into the flood-plains adjacent to and down toward the Miss. Delta into the Gulf of Mexico, A DISASTER OF MASSIVE PROPORTIONS TO SHRIMPING AND FISHING AREAS, mark my words). Also unless you are eating the good Olathe Sweet Corn out of western Colorado in Delta County (where they also grow the best weed west of California), corn basically sucks as a food source. DOWN WITH CORN! DOWN WITH CORN!

Thanks for posting this PKG, but I have to tell ya, for me the jury is still out. Looking at some stuff with the CIA and a few others there's too many irregularities going on. 10,000 lakes disappear in Russia alone, Tigris, Euphrates, Amazon, Mississippi to name a few, severely down. Here's some comments from NASA
But scientists are not taking lightly the fact that Griffin, the head of NASA doesn’t understand the seriousness of global warming (http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/03/11/news/warm.php), with some calling on him to resign. Some reactions:
James Hansen (http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=nation_world&id=5354934), NASA’s top climate scientist: “It’s an incredibly arrogant and ignorant statement. It indicates a complete ignorance of understanding the implications of climate change.”
Michael Oppenheimer (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10613389), Professor of Geosciences and International Affairs at Princeton University: “It’s astounding that the head of a major U.S. science agency could hold such attitudes — basically ignorance about the global warming problem. It’s so astonishing that I think he should resign.”
Gavin Schmidt (http://www.livescience.com/environment/070531_gw_griffin.html), NASA climate scientist: “Griffin’s comments seem surprisingly naive. We are not in a situation where we are shopping around for an ideal climate, but that we have adapted to the climate we have, and that therefore large changes to it are not likely to be beneficial.”
Berrien Moore (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10613389), Director of the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space at the University of New Hampshire: “I don’t understand it. I’m really stunned he would say something like that. I mean, I just really find it shocking.”
Like I said, for me the jury is still out:confused::confused::confused:

Fair enough....Although GeoWhiz brings up some interesting points about the corn craze. Quite possibly an unintended consequence of a rush to judgement.

If you look at the models that they use to support their lies, it is absolutely ridiculous! There is no credible scientific evidence. They set the system up as a positive system which creates sinusodial effects which the system (our world) would basically blow up in a short amount of time! It's garbage, but if you want money and grants, you better line up with the popular lie or you will be cut off. Once again, follow the money! The real data supports that the atmosphere is not heating up, but rather that the earth is heating up (from the sun), but at such a neglible amount the amount is in the noise of measurement. This increase in temperature is cyclic and the predictions are that in 10 years, the earth will be cooling again, then they will be touting that the earth is going back into a ice age (remember that back a couple of decades ago?). It is a matter of control and taking billions of dollars from richer nations and 're-distributing' the wealth to other nations. Ummmm, sounds like a socialist thing!

The best eating corn is grown in the California central valley. Period. As for the weed or corn in western Colorado, I only know the corn in SW Colorado is pretty good where we live now. All other comments you made are very true.

And all this time I was really looking forward to warmer winters. Go global warming :sun:
Odd thing is, A few years back the Globe suddenly in a matter of 3 days rose by 1 degree C. Now 1 degree C doesnt sound much but all the Charts around the Globe noticed it, It was a shock to all who were watching, Under Normal Climate changes 1degree C normaly takes around 8 to 12 years, yes the globe does flucturate, But not in 3 days.
Does any one know the 3 days ............................9/11 when all US Aircraft were grounded.
So the grounding of all planes means we fry in less than 2 weeks,
Make no mistake about it its all about tax, If it were True we would all have Quoters by now on how much Gas were allowed to use, how many Air miles were allowed, Car manufacturer's would have Quoters, All public transport would be Electric, Solar power would be in every home,
And last but not least Oil would be Taxed to 500 Bucks a barrel,
Its another Tax so politicions can earn what they do,
...............LOL and some think there will be a Cival war in Iraq, what about a little closer to home.
Ahhhhhhhhh feel better now !!.
