Woman Holds $4,000 Divorce Party in Park

Thu Aug 19, 8:21 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!

RIYADH (Reuters) - A Saudi woman threw a 15,000 riyal ($4,000) party in a public park to celebrate her divorce from her abusive husband, al-Watan newspaper said on Thursday.

The daily said the woman, who was not identified, gathered family and friends in the city of Medina to celebrate the end of her unhappy marriage -- a rare occurrence in the ultra-conservative kingdom which frowns upon divorce.

She also invited everyone that was in the park at the time to join in, plying them with food and drink, the paper added.

Divorce is legal under Islam but rights activists say many women in Saudi Arabia prefer to stay in unhappy or violent marriages rather than be stigmatized by society or lose custody of their children.

I wish the wedding was in Iraq and the dinar was worth 15,000 Dinar to $4,000 US

but having said that some day the Dinar will be as much or more as the Saudi
Riyal... to sum it all up lets just call it Petro Dollars.

Let's try to post in the correct forum to keep things organized, ok.
This isn't the 1st time you've done this (see ISX subforum). This belongs in the lounge.

it sounds to me that you are upset with me and I do this on purpose
am I on trial here that I posted something in the wrong thread?

I have seen enough post that are not in good taste these past days that would be lacking good taste.
that post was about Iraqs neighbors enjoying a good return on their Ryials as to someday soon I hope the Iraqi dinar
that post is about the news from that part of the world as far as what our investment may be worth someday (soon)
Amen

I was the one that moved your thread. As you stated in your first post "off topic". In the other forum it was off topic, but in this one it fits quite well.

I was rather suprised to see a woman come out like that. Good for her :happy64: I know that can be a rather scary thing to do over there.

When the dinar hits, how many divorces will we see? :lmao:
