Dude.......You know as well as everybody else that Iran is just another insect waiting to be swatted. Fact is, we won't have to do it. Leave this one to Israel, they'll show Illatolla salami what jihad is all about. Don't forget about "operation sampson"!

One more thing, are you that much anti US or do you just like to stir the sh**?

If America would let Israel do its thing, most of our worries would cease. But for some reason, the American government has no will to drain the swamp. The Iranian model is the prime example. Neither Carter, nor Reagan had the stomach to take on Iran. Instead Carter wimpered away, Reagan sends olie north to sell "spare parts" to the Iranians. No foreign policy other than to keep the oil flowing.

If Iran gets their hands on them enrichment rods, the US will have no say to their actions. Israel has already stated that!

Iran now has the missles capable of hitting the entire middle east and possibly much of Europe. The time to hit Iran has gone. The US didnt have the will to destroy the Iraqi republican guard, instead it chose to let them walk home. The US certainly doesnt have the will to hit Iran. Israel doesnt have the capability, but has the will. Israel will need more than a few f-16s to hit all of Irans sites. Iran is over 3 times the size of Iraq and far too mountainous. The US will persuade others just to pay off the Iranians and let them be.

Iran would not be the first country to underestimate the resolve of the American public. I certainly hope it never gets that far.

Theres Snook in them waters... And I aim to catch me some : )

I wouldn't call iraqi al yuhad anti-american if anything he wants the USA to get TOUGHER. At first I was like "what is this guys deal" but I can see his points sometimes.

I was curious about the F-14s so I had a quick look at Janes ADW. Iran is the only foreign country to fly the F-14. The Shah ordered 80 of them in the early 70's and had received 79 before being deposed. These are all first generation Tomcats that would do any museum proud. Notice I said museum. Estimates range between 20 and 35 of them still flyable. Iran has developed an impressive internal aviation development program. The fact that some of these birds are still flying are a testament to their abilities ( of course msrs Reagen and North provided a few spare parts). Efforts are underway to update the aircraft but even so the airframes have a limited life time due to structural fatigue. Iran did well against the Iraqi airfarse but I don't think anyone would give them much of a chance against any modern fleet.

I've obviously got way too much time on my hands....

Yes, you nailed it!
America needs to suck it up and get tough. Think about wwII. If America was worried about wholesaleing people, we would have lost the war. We had no problem wiping out 100,000 people during one raid. The Russians thought we were still too soft. Today, if the opponent wheres a cross, a rag on their head, or someother religious symbol, we fold. Time to get tough and finish the job people

A snook is a fish. If it were indeed a trouser trout I would be proud to be associated with a beast of such size and veracity : )

We dont have them here in michigan.
Regarding the iranian f-14. I agree the life on them birds is limited. What about there barter worth? I wonder if iran hasnt already used a few of the tomcats in exchange for russian subs or the no dong north korean missile?

One of the items mentioned at Janes was that as soon as the Shah was kicked out the Navy started to rework the missle and defensive systems used by the F-14. They obviously thought the same thing you did. Iran may have been able to barter for something early on but I don't think they could have gotten anything in the last ten years. They may not have needed to. As I said they have developed quite a bit of stuff on their own and I'm sure China isn't afraid to sell technology for oil.

I assume your in Detroit or nearby, I was born in Highland Park but now reside in Florida. A poor substitue maybe but I hear the lake Erie Walleye are edible....

The laws of war do not allow us to target non-combatants such as Medics and chaplains, medical evacuation helicoptors and the like...

Another excuse not to win!
That's why it will be very difficult for the US to win this "war" in Iraq. Every raghead will simply be a "cleric" and the US will stop. Look at Najaf today. The US could carpet bomb the city just like Dresden was. But our public would not tolerate this. An alternative solution to this whole mess is to create a patronage system similar to kuwait or saudi arabia.
The US cant win this type of war. So why not peg the dinar to the dollar, give every iraq family $70,000? The dinar would be one to one with the us dollar, every iraq would be busy building houses, buying cars.

I have to admit your posts keep me waffling between "ignoring" you and "applauding" you...

I'm already so conflicted in our struggle to protect ourselves and our mission to help others...

Am I right to assume what you're saying is that you are an American, you are Pro-American, and you're seriously disappointed with the Liberal Weenies who have have castrated the US over the past two decades?

Do you believe "W" has enough ba!!s to take Iran and Syria if he gets re-elected?
