THIS IS HUGE!
Iraq 1 Australia 0 !
Iraq has won one medal in Olympic History back in 1960, a bronze in weightlifting.
A win tuesday and they play for the Gold. If they lose they play for a bronze.
Never have they played in a final 4 in any tourny!!!
This will be one of the biggest sports stories in history!
Perhaps they will peg the Dinar to the score if they make the Gold Medal Game!!
Made possible with the help of the fine people of the free world!!!!
Go Iraq! :happy64: :huge:

Sorry, I have really mixed emotions about rooting for a team that has a players that speak such hatred towards us.
I lost all respect for the team when that article came out. But thankfully for them, if they do lose they wont have to face the Hussein brothers, eh? I guess they forgot what that terror was.

Tony,
No this was strictly an opinion towards the team. I am so FOR rebuilding Iraq and helping the people recover after years of Saddam. Just kinda made me :rolleye03 .
Even if they NEVER find WMD, i stand behind whats being done over there. After all, i think Saddam WAS the WMD. No body should have to live in such fear. The hatred just stuns me, i guess.
i find myself smiling when I hear of the progress being made. I really like when hes in his office and an Iraqi National will come in and talk to him about some business or another. Who'd 'a thunk that an american would be speaking to an iraqi about business IN iraq?? :happy64:
So back to the Olympics. I think its fantastic that they've come so far, but their victory has been tainted in my mind because of the comments. That doesnt necessarily mean i want them to LOSE, i just wont be as happy.

You should be happy that the team is allowed to say things like this. This is one of the reasons we went into Iraq to allow them the freedom to express their views wether positive or negative.
You may not agree with what he is saying but you should be happy that he is allowed to say it. (not that saddam would have prevented them bashing the US before but you understand the point.)

Comments made me sick!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The comments from the Iraqi soccer team members made me sick. My husband is risking his life over there and this is the kind of thanks OUR sacrificing men, women, and families back home, receive? It does not matter that they were raised during dictatorship. We saved them and this ungrateful attitude, especially done in a public way, is disgusting. I don't care to put myself in their situation to think about it that way. I'm not in their situation and I give them no excuses.
I couldnt have said it better myself. Thanks Babydoll!!!!
