Well, I have seen the reports of rioting going on in developing countries due to the lack of food, and what do I see on yahoo's main page? Time to stockpile food?
Are they trying to scare people? I don't think things are that bad yet.

Thats all the mainstream media is good for these days. I'm really getting tired of the "chicken little" mentality!
We eat allot of rice in my house and the prices are out of hand, and only going to get worse because of the fear mongering.

Its a strange one.
In the past I've read articles stating we have months and months of food stockpiled (to keep prices high) yet recently the figure has gone down to 45 days (so they tell us).
Whether it happens now or at a later stage, the world will eventually face a real crisis unless the third world (Are we allowed to say that these days) does something about their population growth.
Its sad that when all this talk of a food crisis is going on no western leader has the balls to say certain parts of the world need to adopt strict population control methods otherwise things will get out of control.
And in such a case who is left to pick up the pieces? Yes western donors.
Sadly this world just aint big enough for all of us.

I don't play into any of that but I do have 1 year worth of food and it is all canned. so it will last. I also have 4 months of MRE's to toss into a truck if needed. You never know when the job market will keep you unemployed for long periods or a natural disaster will hit. History has shown many times it is better to stock up.

I have been saying this for yrs.{About population control}but i dont think its only in 3 world countrys i think everybody should take responsabilty. even here in the great USA. if we keep going like this there will be bigger problems all over the world.......STOP OVER POPULATING. i have done my part, by not having any children of my own, and raising a few that were already here. If there is a food shortage, I don't think your going to be the only one doing that...island countries with huge populations and little resourses are going to suffer....
japan is already warning its citizens to expect less food and lower quality.

Guys come on, don't sound like a ZPG'er.. I humbly and respectfully disagree with This Zero Population Growth talk and say that it is nonsense.
This Soylent Green or Logan's Run type talk is in direct contrast to reality and the word of God.
Be fruitful and MULTIPLY...
There is enough land and resources to feed the world several times over, I would suspect that it has more to do with Geopolitics, Greed, Corruption and all the Evils that MEN do that cause these sorts of things, Not a lack of natural resource opportunity.

I couldn't agree more. Just look at what population control has done to china. They finally admit to the problems it caused with an unbalanced sex/age ratio. The entire industrialized world (With the exception of the US) has a declining population, and the problems in the 3rd world have nothing to do with resources, its corruption.
And if you're worried about the earth you should read this:
"Based on the estimated mass Bruhathkayosaurus may have weighed 175-220 tons. There is difficulty in establishing the identity of the animal from what remains and Dinosauricon goes as far as to suggest that there is no certainty that it is even animalian."
220 tons is about 440,000 lbs. If the average person weighs 170 lbs, thats 2,588 people to equal the weight of one of these monsters. Supposedly there were lots of them running around at the time. Now, some can argue that they caused their own extinction or whatever, but look at the earth, it obviously survived that calamity and it will survive any so called global warming nonsense.

I've got a stockpile I'd like to lose ! Do sit-ups really work ?
or as was stated on IIF recently, "just when the girlfriend flattens out the stockpile, the neighbor lady comes over to re-inflate it !!!
