Why am I not able to read the posts by certain members???
If they are being deleted or screened by the Moderators...then why?
I think I need to be my own judge as to whether I want to read them or not.
If I want to use the ignore button, I will. But I, should have that priviledge.
I don't need anyone making that decision for me. I'm a responsible adult, and would hope everyone else here is also. I think it's about time everyone started acting like it. So...what's the deal????????
Thanks!

Is my question just being ignored?

WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR ONE OF THE MODERATORS MAYBE TO ANSWER MY QUESTION?
PLEASE!!!!!!
IF YOU DON'T MIND!

How hard can this be? If members are now being blocked from posting and PM'ing, I, personally would like to know.
So, what's the deal?

I think some members are deleting their posts. Maybe they are uncluttering the threads?

Don't really know.

Well, that's possible, but don't think that's it all together though.
Thanks!

I think the majority are members deleting their own posts.
(that makes for some confusing reads)

From what I understand the mods only delete profanity ridden tirades or other extreme abuse.

This section of the forum is lightly used (now) compared to the others...Please try pming one of the mods for a faster answer. :happy26:

There is really nothing to it- we rarely delete posts and do so when they are not conforming to the rules. There is no reason to panic.. important information stays on the forum.

Thanks, danpeg for the response.
And believe me, I'm not going to panic. Just concerned!!!
I would prefer to make my own decision as to whether I want to read a members post or not. If I feel I don't, then I know how to use the ignore button. And have! Is this such a hard thing for people to do or understand....it's simple,
add xxxxxxxxx to my ignore list.
Is it possible for me make my own decision in this matter,or has that decision already been made for me?
Thanks!

Well I have been urging people to use the ignore button frequently.. and so it's great you did. Given the pace at which this site is growing, it's only natural for us to take the initiatitve and move threads and posts around.

We also sometimes delete posts that are absolutely irrelevant to keep thread on track (but this is not an official policy).

I really don't mean to be a pest. And it's not my intent to cause any trouble.
But you seem to be sidestepping the question. Why am I not able to read the posts by certain members??? Are they're posts being blocked? Do I not have the right to pick and choose any longer?(with certain members anyway) Are you just trying to prove a point to a certain member or members? I'm still confused. I'm not looking to make anyone mad, just trying to understand. I personally want the opportunity to make that decision myself. I am old enough and mature enough to do that, and would hope everyone else here is also.
Thanks again!

Seems very suspicious that all of his posts/threads are gone and anything new he posts is blocked.

Hopefully this is just a technical glitch. Otherwise, a member who to my knowledge did not break any forum rules has been banned.

I just noticed it, he was on my ignore list.

yes, what did happen? I know he annoyed the heck out of alot of people, but that can't possibly be a basis for banning him? did we miss a nasty vulgar post of his or something?

It had to have been something. They would not ban a member for being annoying.

My thoughts exactly. So what did I miss?
I certainly don't think he would be the type to have a trantrum like dinar rod.

I bet he deleted his own posts.

Every last one of them???? And he is continuing to post and then deleting those right away?

Doesn't seem very likely to me.

maybe the mods can give us a more definitive answer? at least then we can let this whole subject rest.....if it's banning based on humor and chatting, i maybe next on the chopping block

It's funny, because everyone else that gets banned seems to get deleted from the members list. It looks like he's still a member, but has somehow been silenced. (I'm not sure how they do that, though.)

My guess as to what happened was that he took Jerry on in the Lounge and was very insulting to him after repeatedly being warned. Also, he's been a big pain to a lot of people on this forum, myself included. I think it had gone beyond being plain annoying to being downright insulting. That said, I don't know what actually did happen to him.

I will bet that we hear from him again soon in a new alias, though. I don't know how he will be able to go on without posting his 70 posts a day on this forum.

I can understand if he went out of his way to argue, and I truly hope that's the reason. I just don't want to see members banned just because they get on people's nerves, it's not a valid reason. :rolleye03

But what do you do when moderators like Jerry and others repeatedly ask him to "take it to the Lounge" and he repeatedly refuses? I encourage you to read the exchange between Jerry and him on "Fear and Loathing in IIF." (I got heated there myself, because of the ad hominem attacks.) Ultimately, perhaps the moderators had had about enough of letsdodinar's ignoring of the warnings and silenced him.

now i do consider that a valid reason....arguing especially when warned, I stand corrected.

I realize this is a dead issue now. Everything seems to be working fine. But I would still like an explanation. The REAL truth! PM would be fine, just for my satisfaction.

Now, Big Daddy...My take on the exchange in the lounge;

It was in the lounge, and that's where it should have been.

It was only after being attacked first, did letsdodinar respond. Jerry broke down one of letsdodinar's post first(and didn't hold anything back), and he only responded with the same. As with your response to Jerry's post. The rest is history, as is this tread, unless we can get an explanation, and then that should kill it for sure.

I read the exchange too and didnt see where Letsdodinar was any more insulting than anyone else involved.
