View Full Version : Constructive Criticism

Hi Everyone,
I woke up to 11 reported posts.
There are two things I would like to talk about in this post:
I would like to clarify things in response to some of the critique I have had to face over the past year: from my reasons for forming this site, to conspiracies such as Warka setting up this forum to scam people.
Make a point about how to criticize and how to deal with it.
First, like we mention in the various (http://www.investorsiraq.com/showthread.php?t=1845) disclaimers (http://www.investorsiraq.com/disclaimer.html), this forum is not owned nor influenced by Amer the dealer, Warka bank, nor any other group with specific interests to sell you anything.
I set up this forum because I saw an opportunity. I noticed that there was no place for all the thousands of dinar buyers to discuss the speculative investment they had made. Additionally "Truck and Barter" did not have the software to handle the talk and had decided to close his website to discussions. My expertise is to build websites and market them and I know that when you get a lot of traffic in a specific niche to your website, you can profit from it. So there you go - as I said in the past - this is not a charity and I do not work for free. Consider this forum a value added service that some of you choose to pay for to keep it up (and thank you for that).
Secondly, I love criticism and debate. I like when people challenge my perspective on the world and make me think. I do not like it when it is done maliciously or with no respect. There have been some people who voiced a different view on this investment politely and respectfully. But for some reason, most the criticizers do it with hate and disrespect.
So please, if you disagree with the majority of members here - voice your opinion!! But with respect to the group, and with no personal attacks.
And as for dealing with criticism - please try to understand that opinions are opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs. Engage in a civilized debate but if you can't stand being criticized, skip that thread.
Respectfully,
Dan P.
Agree completely with your take on this sir. Recent posts/criticism have been out of line and unwarranted.
Thanks for creating/maintaining this site for those of us who appreciate it! :happy64:

DanPeg- thought it might be appropriate to repost my comments made back in July in response to another member - keep up the good work - BBbucks
I remember when this site was created- as I observed it– it was created due to the DEMAND FOR INFORMATION about the Dinar. Most of the first people to join this forum came over from another site, called Truck and Barter in which he was also a member and contributor of. It was about this time, just last year, and as I remember there were so many people logging on to that other site looking for information about this investment, their server just couldn't handle it. The person running the other site used a different style format than this, which ended up being very tedious, not only for us readers & contributors, but the poor guy constantly had to keep creating new threads, in order to keep the site from crashing from the amount of posts it was receiving. Enter DANPEG who filled a need by creating this site, which is very user friendly, and can handle the large amount of info that is posted every day (took some time and hard work I assume). He had the foresight to invite AMER on board to help meet our buying needs since he happened to be already the dinar seller of choice of it's members (overwhelmingly so, i might add) In fact, AMER even offered a limited time discount for the members to thank them for their support and for choosing him as the offical seller of this site. Of course his participation helps fund the upkeep of this site. I think it should since, they both, DANPEG & AMER, have worked hard and did a terrific job providing their services to us all! Very good example of the "entreprenarial spirit" on DANPEG'S part don't you think? :rolleye03

BBbucks,
I appreciate that post (which I hadn't read originally). It really summarizes what happened over the past year.
Thank you for your kind words,
Dan

I think it is important to remember that without this site, we would be left to surf alone without perspective from many knowledgable members. I would be sad to think that I had to count on T&B for info.

Dan, I know you didn't start this thread with the intent of drawing praise but I'm going to add mine anyway.
I was very interested in the dinar speculation from the moment I heard about it. I realized the risks but also the rewards. However, without this forum, I doubt I'd have purchased anywhere near what I have. Having the opportunity to view the vast amount of information our members share has made all the difference in the world to me and I'm sure most participants on this site. This will be LIFE CHANGING for many people. And if something awful happens and this doesn't pan out - which I highly doubt, I've gained some very useful information on a large variety of topic, heard a few jokes, got mad at some stupid people and gained many friends. I haven't risked more than I can afford to lose and its been a hell of a ride either way.
Thanks again for sharing

as usual dan: reasoned, rational, and honorable ... thank you, thank you very much for all you've done ... and the moderators also ... i noticed a thread wondering about where the ol' heads had gone ... when the reasoned debate, executed with respect and in respectful tones, gave way to maliciousness and, to be colloquial, abject "smack," they left ... childish garbage that has recently re-appeared on the site is but one example ... dan, you possess the patience of job: thanks again for everything ...
w/regard and thanks,
bill

Disagree, but respectfully.
Maybe have a little fun as well.

I have been involved with this forum for over a year now. I don't post that much only because i do not know enough about investments to compete with all the people with the knowledge, so i read and try to learn. When i do post something its usually to comment or try to understand further. I also recieve Dinar alerts in my e-mail, sometimes i may think its worth posting, and when i do i get slammed because its either in the wrong place or its incorrect. (its not that often) So my only complain would be to the people who know or those who think they know it all, to have patients with those of us, specifically me, who are humble enough to post something to reply with some class and not arrogance. Thanks for listening to my two cents worth.

Exactly, like bamboo in the wind...
When I was a child I was taught that the sturdy, unyielding oak tree, would break and fall in a storm. The bamboo however, would bend in the high wind and stand back up again when the storm was over.
The moral of the story is that it is better to 'go with the flow', 'bend like the reed', than to take such a hard stance that you break and fall.
Be patient, be quiet, be open to new ideas, listen.....
