View Full Version : ISXers- Agricultural Products
Has anyone bought any "Al-Therar for Agricultural Production" and what can you tell me about the company?
Their stock is very inexpensive and I did not know if they were new to the ISX. I have been looking for a stock that would be breaking into some of the growing market. Looks like they were listed on the ISX in May http://www.firstglobalselect.com/scripts/cgiip.wsc/globalone/htm/quote_and_news.r?pisharetype-id=15320
This is all that I can find on them,

I have some shares and have tried for more. I believe that Iraq being the "fertile cresent" will prove very well for the agricultural sector. Here is a link that a thoughtful individual provided to me regarding this stock. Gil Feiler, a well thought of economist in the Middle East, believes Al-therar is a good choice.

Dr. Gil Feiler, author of Rethinking Business Strategy in the Middle East and North Africa for the Economist Intelligence Unit is bull regarding the Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX).
With a GDP growth forecast of well above 10 percent in 2007, more openness to foreign investors and privatization, the ISX is ripe for booming. It should be noticed that Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Iraq are limited (less than 1 percent of the GDP in 2006) and that currently foreigners are forbidden to trade on the ISX.

USDA at Work for Agriculture in Iraq March 2008 Agriculture serves as the foundation on which many countries build their economies. For Iraq, agriculture has traditionally been the second largest employer, after the oil sector. Agriculture is the second largest component of Iraq's GDP and an important part of the social structure of rural communities. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is helping Iraq revitalize its agricultural sector through a variety of activities.
Advisors. USDA maintains a permanent presence in the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad through the assignment of two Foreign Service Officers. In addition, one USDA staff member serves as the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) liaison in Baghdad, five USDA staff serve as ministry advisors to the Government of Iraq, and one USDA staff member is an agricultural economics advisor to the Iraqi Government. Ministry advisors provide technical guidance and capacity building to the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant Ministries in the areas of agricultural extension, animal health and food safety, strategic planning, and soil and water management.
USDA has deployed 20 individuals to serve as advisers on PRTs. This year, USDA anticipates up to an additional 15 PRT agricultural advisors will be deployed to Iraq as part of President Bush's New Way Forward, with the possibility that up to 35 USDA PRT agriculture advisors will be in Iraq in 2008. All of the people deployed to Iraq have been USDA employees who have volunteered and were selected and trained for these assignments.

Iraqi Agriculture will be one of the first industries to thrive in Iraq. A vital component in the process of REAL growth and properity. Jobs, food, exports, cheap fuel costs(eventually), technical support (USDA), water and irrigation improvements, and generous bank loans.
definitely a formula for HUGE success......:clapping::clapping::clapping:
