Jeddah to host GCC ministers meeting in early September
By Abderazaq Al-Hzami RIYADH, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- The 96th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council Foreign Ministers would be hosted in Jeddah September 4th and the State of Kuwait is to be represented by a delegation headed by Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
Gulf diplomacy sources told KUNA Tuesday this would be a particularly important meeting due to the current circumstances and recent developments in the region.
They said the two-day Bahrain-presided meetings would focus on issues relating to Iraq, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the Middle East Peace Process in view of the Israeli pullout from Gaza.
There would be stress on safeguarding Iraqi unity and security, Iraqi constitution drafting issues, the islands dispute between the United Arab Emirates and Iran, and GCC-Iran relations under the new President Ahmadinejad who came to power late June. MORE
