View Full Version : FEDEX Stopping packages!!!!

Fedex is stopping packages now in Dubai! I had a shipment of dinar coming from Jordan, that was stopped and checked in Dubai at the mail hub. They will not transport currency internationally! They said the only option they had was to convert it to US dollars and mail me a check. They are also not willing to mail it back to sender! THen they realized that the only conversion rate calculater they have still lists the IQD as being worth .33$, and they are not willing to cut me a check for $3.3 million dollars! I told them to go ahead, I don't mind! They have put a call into security to see what they can do at this point. I tried to argue that right now it is just like paper, since it is not a world currency at the moment. They said "well, it looks like money"! Well duh... so does monopoly money! I will let you all know what they do! Wishful thinking, if they do cut me a check in US dollars for the amount I mentioned... I am going to order lots more and hope they stop all those packages as well!!!!!

It may not yet be a world currancy, but it is a nationally recognized currency. As Iraqi law currently states that Iraqi dinars are not allowed outside the country. That was also stated by the banks. FedEx snoozed on mine, all 4 packages are in Nashville heading to MPLS.

They missed my first few packages, but I am irritated about this one! I would really like to know what they are going to do about it? If they say that they won't ship it back (then I could have him re-send it to me), and won't ship it on, what can they do? Does fedex offer any other services that allow them to ship currencies? The reason they gave me for not being able to was nothing to do with Iraq, it was that for currecny they have no way of tracing it! If part of it were stolen, it would be their word against ours. Well, if this is the case, isn't there another fedex service that would guarantee that? What about another mail courier company? I am kinda stuck waiting on an answer from them. Should get one tomorrow since it is 10 pm over there right now

Hey there, BK!
It sounds like you may beat us all to the finish line, huh? I'm interested in seeing how they decide to handle your situation. I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. Where did you order your Dinar from? I saw that it was coming from Jordan, but through who? I recently have purchased Dinar as well that is coming from Jordan, but my package was shipped DHL on Saturday morning, the 17th, from Amman, Jordan, arrived & departed in Bahrain on the 18th and on this morning it arrived & departed from London-Heathrow, UK. I'm not too sure where the next destination is, hopefully here in my hot little hands. I've been checking the website to track it periodically. I'm sure there will be an update tonight due to the time differences. As soon as I have more on the progress of my delivery, I'll let you know.
I am not familiar with all of the different places between here & Iraq, so where is Dubai? How were they able to know that it was currency that was in the package being delivered to you? I was told that they could mark the package as containing gifts or something like that and there wouldn't be a problem. Like I said, my package is coming via DHL not FedEx, so I don't know if that will make any difference in anything. I intend on having several more packages shipped through my contact, so I hope that we are able to find a route of shipping that is dependable.
Please, keep me posted on the outcome of your delivery. I hope that you don't incur any losses with this. I'll definitely say a prayer wishing the best for you. You can get with me personally if you'd like to discuss more specific details. I should be receiving my shipment by Wednesday, so I'll make sure to let you know how that turns out.
Take care,
Rhonda ;)

Thanks Rhonda for the input. I will contact my seller in Jordan and tell him to consider that form of delivery. It sounds like I won't find anything out until tomorrow, or maybe late tonight. Good luck on your investment, and I will keep you informed as to my progress. Oh yeah, I bought this shipment from Gaith in Jordan. I have worked with Antiqes as well though. I am just hoping they send it back to him so he can find another way to transport it to me.

Hey all,
I am not familiar with all of the different places between here & Iraq, so where is Dubai?
Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates, just south and east of Saudi Arabi, it is pretty much the international hub for the area!
I flew in through there, on my way into IRAQ, this May.
A very beautiful place!
How were they able to know that it was currency that was in the package being delivered to you?
Rhonda
In all legality, you are suppose to describe the "proper Contents" on the customs form.
Large fines or imprisionment for falsifing statements about the contents!!
"Thats all I know about that"
Highrollr,
I was wondering if your shipment was coming from Amer(dima89), I've been trying to reach him to buy more dinar for three days and have not gotten a response.
highrollr19
07-19-2004, 03:44 PM
I talked with them a few times. There will be no legal repricutions on my end, but I have no idea about possible ones one the other. They are still considering sending it on through, or sending it back. I am awaiting their answer. Will update it when I get it. I may have the rest of mine sent via DHL.

Just received 6 more million today by Fedex directly from antiquesghaith.I track the shipments and this one didn't go through Paris but the UK and came into Newark yesterday but went back to Nashville then arrived today to Newark again and was delivered. Also this shipment wasn't opened by US customs and about half of the shipments from Jordan are opened and taped closed by US customs. Also noticed jaki2000 and dima98 cancelled all their new dinars auctions and it may be due to the shipping considerations.

Amer was just on the board earlier today. Go to the members list, click his name, and you can send him a private message.
I'm surprised about the FEDEX. My packages all came from Jordan and passed through Dubai. I did hear a story about someone stopped in an airport and the cash was taken but they were given the value in USD and made a very nice profit. I don't think it was dinar though. Good luck, very interested in the outcome. Keep us posted...

This is my first time enter a post. Been a faithful reader for 3+ weeks or so. We really have learned A LOT from you all. It's been exciting and very educational! Thank you! We just ordered (last week) and the dinar is coming FedEx. Haven't received it yet. We didn't get a tracking number on our order confirmation that came by email.

I just read the news and I emailed Jaki and antique on ebay and am waiting for a reply. I hope they can find other ways to send it. there is a guy in Athens, I wonder if he has any problems sending yet.

So, for those of you who already received their FedEx packages . . . how or were they marked on the outside (naming contents?). Could you tell if they had been opened?

RMN856 - Thanks for answering my question about Dubai. I'm learning something new every single time that I read this forum. As far as the Customs form and the way that they fill that out....I truly do not have any idea of how they did theirs (but will soon find out), this is the first time to receive a shipment from them. Someone had just mentioned that to me a few weeks ago when I was asking about how shipping is done. Thanks anyway for your insight on the matter.
As for the rest: It seems like I may be the only one here (that has posted to this thread) that is receiving my shipment via DHL. Like I previously posted, I have been able to track every place that it's been via the Website. I am sure tonight that I will be able to see the next stop that it made and where it is headed next. I am expecting for it to be here in Texas no later than Wednesday. I hope that it's not held up anywhere because I'm heading out Saturday for a long, awaited, very much needed, trip to Puerta Vallerta. I'll update this information when I receive my shipment so that everyone is able to see the way that DHL shipments are handled when they are shipped from Amman, Jordan.
BK, I really hope that you get the response you are hoping for from the Customs officials in Dubai. Make sure to keep us all posted on your situation. Good luck to all........Rhonda ;)
Just heard from Amer in Jordan. My package wasn't shipped due to the problems with FedEx. (Problems began Saturday) He asked if I could get information regarding the person who ships via DHL. Rhonda, did you say your package came DHL? Could you post info. for me or contact Amer? He's on the member's list. Thanks! I'd REALLY like to get my money!
We ordered some through a friend over a month ago. He was bringing it personally, then delivering to a military buddy. . . to be delivered to my brother-in-law then to be delivered to US, finally! Well, the money is in the states, but the "military buddy" has now been shipped out! Arg! I'll be ready to get the money, then get the REAL MONEY! Our dream house just came on the market in our area!

PAB, just emailed you the offer you requested, and we will ship it via USPS due to the FedEx problem.
-------------------------------
Hello everyone,
The FedEx problem is internal within FedEx Dubai, and currently all shipments sent on and after the 17th are being returned to us and we are finding a better alternative than USPS to ship them through.
Anyone that placed an order with us during the last few days, please be patient, and do not worry as your money is in safe hands. It's just going to be a few days longer than usual.
Thanks,
Amer Kawar

THANK YOU, Amer! Thank you for your information and for working on this for us. Any info. on the ISX or T-bills?
Will you be selling more dinar?
Hi,
Nothing yet on the T-Bills, a friend in Baghdad will be getting me some information within a few days.
Regarding the ISX, last thing I heard is that the stocks are not available for Foreigners.
As you can imagine, I am very busy with the shipping problem, so please give me sometime :)
Take care,
Amer
RET,
Yes, sure. I am just working on a shipping company more efficient and faster than USPS.
USPS takes 5 - 12 days, and they call it express!

Thank you, Amer! We'll be in touch for more orders when we get this one shipment in. We appreciate the work you are doing!

Thanks,

Hey everyone,
My shipment of NID is coming from Amman, Jordan and it was shipped on the 17th via DHL Global Shipping. I was given the DHL Air Waybill No. so that I can track the status via the DHL website. After reading RET's request for more information, I sent an e-mail to my contact in Jordan requesting that they either Fax or E-mail me a copy of the Air Waybill, so that I can give ya'll more details on the way that your packages can be shipped here. I also searched the DHL website where I was able to track the Air Waybill to see if I could find out a little more information and the following is what I was able to come up with.
DHL can be contacted in Jordan at these numbers: Within Jordan - 6-858514
Outside Jordan - 962-6-858514.
Addresses in Jordan where you are able to leave a shipment for delivery:
AQABA
DHL Operations Jordan B.V.
2nd Commercial St.
Aqaba
Opening Hours: Sat-Thu 8:30-19:00
Fri. 9:00-17:00
The location of the office from where DHL activities in Jordan are controlled:
DHL Operations Jordan B.V.
7th Circle Jabal Amman
P.O. Box 927111
Amman
Unfortunately, until I hear back from my contacts or I receive my package here, then this is all that I am able to offer anyone. They told me when they sent me the tracking number that I would have my shipment within 3-4 days. That is shipping from Amman, Jordan to my home here in Texas. I am looking for it to be here no later than Wednesday. As I said before, later on tonight, there should be more information listed for me when I go to the website to track the Air Waybill. That will probably give me more of an idea when it will be here and I will get that information to ya'll as well. My friends in Jordan are usually pretty good about getting back with me very quickly. I'll look for a response from them after midnight tonight.
I hope that this information will at least lead you into the right direction. I'll continue to help out as much as I can. Take care everyone & I'll talk to ya soon............Rhonda ;)

Well, since I started this thread, I will give you all the update I know. From talking to Fedex, they are unsure on what to do. They said that their policy will not allow them to ship it on to the US, while it will also not allow them to ship it back to Jordan since that would be international shipping of currency as well. The only other option they had was to convert it and give me a cashiers check. The problem they encountered there is that the only exchange rate they have is the last traded price on the world market. They said they would not exchange it at any of the "speculated" prices that we have found on various websites. So, with the price they have, I would be a new millionaire... and as you can imagine, that did not fly with them either (cutting me a 3+ million dollar check). So, I am still awaiting their decision. They said it would be one of three possibilities 1) go ahead and mail it on 2)mail it back or 3) my favorite... cut me the check!!!
I will let you know what they decide! They did however say that I wouldn't lose my investment!!!

The USPS is part of the federal government which would make them more likely to be intrusive and regulation sticklers. Also have more faith in private enterprises like Fedex and UPS than government bureaucracies.

You are worrying more than you should. Just a small problem, that made a big mess, but it's solved :happy64: already and tomorrow about 150 packages are going via DHL...
The FedEx packages sent on the 17th will be returned back to us tomorrow and we will ship them on Thursday via DHL.
