Just wanted to let folks know my little Dinar circle here in Balad Iraq are starting to see counterfeit 25,000 Dinar. They are easy to spot, cheap paper and no watermark. I encourage everyone to check every bill if possible.

I check EVERY bill when they arrive for ALL features. Right from the black light to the window! I know Amer passes them through the magic machine for authentisity, but it's nice to see on my own.

A little OT, but how is the ol' Balad airfield looking? I has been about 5 months since I have been there and I am interested in living conditions and MWR facilities.

It also should indicate that the price will rise in the value!!! At the current, it really isn't worth it to even waste your time counterfeiting the dinar. It is virtually worthless. The largest bill is only worth about $17, so why would someone go through the effort to fake a bill that is worth so little? Considering that the dinar is the newest bill in the market, it also has the most difficult security measures. It would be easier and more cost beneficial to just counterfiet the US dollar..... unless of coures the dinar is going to rise in value!!!! That is just my 2 dinar worth!

Well just like anything else in this world... there always someone who wants something for nothing ...

I did hear about the 250 dinar notes being counterfeited , but the 25k bill does have the most security features ... Interesting .
I have checked all my notes with inspection and under uv light to see the security mark and all the features were there .
Buyer beware and be carefull ... :rolleye03

yes... it would be safest to buy the larger notes because of the security features. The 25k note has the most feature followed by the 10k, and down the list! I imagine that if any were easy to fake, it would be the lower denomination bills!

Its amazing how far this camp has come since I arrived in Feb. I literaly see improvements every day. They are replacing the MWR tents with a building the size of Defac #4. More than 1000 living trailers have been put in with power, AC and the trailer showers and toilets are up and running. The theater has a real screen now not just white painted wood. The PX is 24 hours and we have 3 barber shops. In a few years this place will be like Korea.

The funny part about them trying to counterfit is that if they were to be success full then the paper they printed on would literally be worth more than the bill itself.....

Don't forget that the most popular forged US$ note in the 20 !

So, although $3 less in value, if it is easier to get rid off, then I can see why it would attract a criminal network to print them.
