What's the worst thing that can happen to a dinari holder? They can drop in value of course, but that seems minor compared to the potential for upside. Consider this, what are the options that would cause any investment to amount to 0?
making new money would make these worthless right?
Making it illegal for USA to sell them back is pretty bad?
Can those happen?

Can those happen? The things I can see happening are:
1) Government overspends or cannot reduce its foreign debt, forcing them to monetize the debt by printing dinars. If the printing presses open up, that can make the dinar nearly worthless. I don't think this will happen because Iraq set up an independent Central Bank. The CBI is separate from the rest of the government and is therefore immune to pressure to print money. Without the ability to pressure the Central Bank, the government will have to raise taxes or borrow money. That can worsen the economy, but the likelihood of hyperinflation is far less.
2) The insurgents win and topple the government. The currency will likely become worthless. Historically when a government topples and the currency is replaced, the new totalitarian government usually doesn't allow money held abroad to be exchanged. If the current government changes money, there's usually an orderly method of exchanging old currency, giving plenty of time for foreigners to make arrangements.
There are other factors that can weaken the dinar so that we'd lose money, but few others can make it valueless.
I suspect the worst scenario that can happen barring the above two is that the currency will stay about the same or weaken a slight bit. But that's IMO.

Great post Roger....as always
I too believe that these 2 examples would do the most harm. Therefore, I am confident that the Dinar will rise. To exceptional levels??? Who knows....but seeing as how the US govt is backing them on both examples....I am worried about neither. As much as we have invested in this, the loss of life, the wounded, and the tremendous amount of money that has been put into this effort....I dont see Uncle Sam letting anything happen to "his" investment in Iraq either.
Just another of my 2 cents.
Oooo . . . I try not to say "what's the worst thing that can happen"! :o

Iraq open up the dinar to foreign markets today. Allow the currency to trade freely in the open market. The market will determine exchange rates.

i belive the only nail bitter might be the "politics" that might arise durring the iraqi elections.
the U.S. and U.K. are going to keep things running smooth, for the benifit of every one.
the sooner Iraqi Oil gets pumped from NEW haliburton machines , the sooner you will see a better rate on your money.
oil demand (China)+ Better Iraqi supply= good news for us and the long opressed Iraqi pepole.

The worst thing that could happen? Somehow I could lose all the Dinar I have and try to order more, but the computer is down. I run to the education center to order and find out that the Dinar opened between my house and the center at no less then .43 :crying: Now I must pay more for my Dinar.

The dinar is announced: "Iraqi Dinar back on the exchange at $2.29 USD:1 IQD"! I grab all my stash and jump in the car. Racing my way to the bank thinking of my first big buy! Luck is on my side as a stall directly across from the bank door opens as I pull up!!! Sweet forms on my hands as I reach for the car door. As I'm climbing out of my car in anticipation, I'm taken out by a bus!! The End. :crying:

How many people have their dinar in an Iraqi bank account? Seems like the risk may be much higher if your not holding the cold hard dinar?

worst thing that can happen...
I find out the dinar are worth millions, but at the same time, a nano-engineered flesh eating virus is time released just as i am rolling around on the floor on top of all my dinars. The bills start fading into just white sheets of paper, surprisingly similar to toilet paper. The second phase of the virus kicks in, causing explosive diarhea. I have to use millions of dollars to wipe my bottom, in a futile attempt as my skin is being slowly eating, while I am dehydrating, sitting on the commode, with millions of dollars in the toilet. Shortly after, I decide to commit suicide to end the pain. Upon pulling the trigger I come to realize there is no bullet in the chamber, and I am doomed to suffer for the rest of my life. As I gaze out the bathroom window, I see other dinar holders running around flying kites made of US hundred dollar bills while they frolick together in the flowery meadows. The radio turns on and says only 1 batch of infected bills went out of the country. Lucky me.
I think that is the worst possible thing that could happen.

The worst would be revaluation like they had in Mexico, where you would have to turn in one hundred dinars to get one new dinar and it would be inside Iraq and we would have no way to exchange it.

Hey prettyboy redneck, what did happen again in Mexico with the money? I remember talking to friend of mine that said people were going bankrupt because they invested everything into the peso and it never came back up.
Just asking if you had some details,
Thanks

I think eventually we will invade Iran to keep them from sending "insurgents"
over the border to start an iraqi civil war.

Globalist Taxers Want Your Money! Something "major" would happen in order
for them to get their wish. A certain amount of dinar currency holders become
rich. News at 11!! They would use that as an escapegoat to put the tax in full effect. But,
here is their excuse...... to slow or stop currency speculation. Yeah right.
The iraqi dinar is the only currency that possibly might do it. No other
currency can do it.

I think it's unlikely that the US would invade Iran. A "free" Iraq puts tremendous pressure on the current regime in Iran. The idea is to transform Iran via revolution from within. There has been growing unrest among the Iranian people for years. Having a neighbor that is prospering under a more democratic system will accomplish more than any invasion would. That's a big part of why Iraq was targeted. An educated populace, along with tremendous economic potential will create a ripple effect that will effect change in Iran and elsewhere in the mideast.
As for the UN...well, anyone who does even a little reading up will see that the UN serves no useful purpose, and is a threat to US sovereignty. The UN exists only because of the US government. America is the cash cow of the UN. If the US re-affirmed its sovereignty and withdrew from the UN, it would collapse like the house of cards that it is. The UN gives credibility to oppressive regimes, who all line up to feed from the trough that the US is paying for. Americans are already paying to keep the UN propped up. It's interesting to note that every few years, someone introduces a bill that calls for the withdrawl of the US from the UN. In recent years, Congress has come closer to passing that bill than many might think.
