Dear Members,

I came back today to the forum to a scene that is all too familiar:

Entire threads with no added value. Posts questioning my intentions for creating this forum. A PM box full of angry users tired of scrolling through hundreds of BS posts that remind me of the worst Yahoo forums out there.

I am tired of coming home and reading conspiracies about myself and the mods. It's insulting and disrespectful. I frankly do not know many people who would have endured what the mods and myself have had to for the past 2-3 months.

I have decided to respond drastically.

For the next 24 hours, I have decided to cut the ability of all users to post, write PMs (often conspiring about me), and chat. I call this our "community" "reflection time".

Thing to-do during our reflection time:
Donate $25 or more to the Red Cross (http://store.yahoo.com/redcross-donate2/) to help the millions who really need your help tonight.
Step away from the computer and meet friends, play with your kids, take a walk/jog, relax.
Realize that life is not all about your money; that this forum is about Iraq and your relationship with this struggling country. This forum is about the economic future of millions of Iraqis; not only about you trying to get rich.
The mods and I have been discussing for the past month about how we can fix this forum. We tried the new warning system and did not observe great results. We tried talking some sense into members, again with no results. We therefore will be taking much more drastic steps to improve the quality of this forum.

As we take these drastic steps, we hope to incite our veteran users, some of which were fantastic posters, to come back and share with us their views without being disrespected and bashed.

More about our plans later.

Please, enjoy the next 24 hours and try to think hard about why you are participating on this forum and what you are looking forward to gain from it.

And once again, put things in perspective and pray for the millions of people who tonight will go to sleep hungry, wet, and afraid.

Respectfully,

Dan

Dan,

Let me for one tell you that your actions where long overdue. I for one found it harder and harder to find relevant information, and at times would find myself drawn into useless phsyco babble. This forum was created for information relevant to our INVESTMENT. It used to be that way. I hope it returns to that.

Good Job.

Dinah Washington once sang "What A Difference A Day Makes." But that doesn't necessarily mean a good thing.

Oops broke my promise :( Ok now I'm going.

This downtime should be a very positive measure that brings home the reality that this site should be utilized gracefully. Just because I rent an apartment does not mean I can do anything I want within the walls. I sign a contract with certain "rules". If I break that contract, I can be evicted and lose all deposits.

That's the only logical reason to be here. Rumors are a fil a dozen. I would much rather read a linked story or report from which I could draw my own conclusions rather than wade through conjecture and even fantasy.

I had my own base of knowledge before I found this forum and appreciate the news and facts that were presented here. The rumors as far as I'm concerned are merely a sideshow spun by idle minds. No offense to anyone personally, but we can make such better use of our minds and resources.

This ride is not free and the ticket does not entitle me to abuse the mods or my fellow passengers. I appreciate the efforts that Dan and the staff are taking to keep us from the abyss of anarchy.

Hi Dan:

I have been reading this site for well over a year now and I have purchased my Dinars for Amer. Amer suggested that there are knowledgeable people on this forum and I should review this site to keep abreast of what is going on with the Dinars investment. I must admit that most of the discussion going back and forth is useless information so consequently, I only look for particular individuals to abstract information about the dinars. I sincerely hope you can control the meaningless posts from various users and only quality information is presented. I for one will be willing to do paid membership. That may help.
