Dear Members,

Thank you for taking today off. The mods and I have been posting back and forth, working behind the scenes to find ways to improve this forum. We are commited to improve this forum's quality and hope to achieve so over the next couple of weeks.

Many structural changes will occur and we expect quality posts and thoughtful debate to be restored as we implement our new systems. The forum reform will be in steps and we urge you to be patient as we test and improve our systems.

I don't want to disclose everything we are planning to do because it's not final yet and we are still debating a couple of issues, but I can say that on one hand, we are going to provide strong incentives for users to post thoughtful posts, and on the other hand, we are going to strongly discourage not-so-thoughtful posts. We want to transform this forum into a forum for exchange of information and of ideas and move the chatting to where it belongs - the chat room.

Here is what you should expect for the next few days:

Tonight, only supporters will be allowed to post. Also, both supporters and non-supporters will be able to use the chat (http://www.investorsiraq.com/chat.php?).

Tomorrow, we should have a system in place to limit the number of posts per day, per user, to 10. This policy will be temporary as my developers work on our custom system. The post cap should encourage users to post quality and leave the quantity for the chat.

Additionally, I am making the rumor forum an option forum (like politics). You can join that forum using this link. (http://www.investorsiraq.com/profile.php?do=editusergroups)

Finally, I forsee a long thread about my decision to close down the posting for the today. I have asked the moderators not to close/delete that thread becuase I realize people have a lot to say. If you feel like it, go ahead and discuss this decision but please stay within the rules.

Well, that's it for tonight. I really think today was a turning point in the future of this forum and I hope to see the best come out of our wonderful members.

Yours,

Dan

All users should now be able to post. I set the posting quota to 10 for registered users and 20 for supporters (per day).

Please note, we have removed the editing and deleting capabilities for users. The reason is that we want users to invest more time in their posts and think twice before hitting the reply button.

Mind you, this is a hack written overnight so there may be a few bugs (though I doubt it); please let us know if you have any problem with the system.
