You really need to see the actual companies that are going to be invested in some may have crap facilities or lousey management. Also you need to be in the circle of big money people willing to invest. I bought a couple of books trying to educate myself on hedge funds. It is critical knowing each individual business that the stocks are going to be purchased.
At the moment just a good broker would do, I have spoke to Rabee securities $100k to open account! This would not be a problem once fund is set up.
It would make a lot of sense to then open an office in Baghdad!
Diamond Back has told me that he is going to be relocating to iraq, I have also had contact from another member of IIF that wants to set up a brokerage company to attract UK clients make sense to have these alliances
I'm going to do some research on hedge funds, it is still early days. You think you need an office in Iraq? Or just a good broker. The whole Middle East may turn out to
be a great investment in their stock markets. It will be rough going in the begining 'cause investors can be impatient. Ypu will need some kind of liability insurance which may be hard to get. I keep you updated.
Excellent news about your daughter being in the PR business, much rather give the business to her!!
I have 2 meetings with hopeful investors over the coming week!
Have a feeling RV will be soon and set up costs will not be a problem but may be wishful thinking!!!
My daughter is an expert in PR and marketing she just launched her new marketing business for veterans. Don't know what I can do on the money end but I will have a chat with some friends. I also have a friend you was an interpreter for the army in Iraq, he can't go back to Iraq now so he could be helpful.
Hi Fish Sorry i have not replied sooner, only just found the visitor messages!
Your correct a seed investor is required to get a hedge fund launched and I agree probably not going to find one on IIF! It would only take about £75k to launch a fund and a small budget for PR of the fund £25k - £50k Total needed I believe approx £125k.
There are no funds listed on the London Stock Exchange and I really want to be the first to market and believe the first fund will enjoy the spoils.
Try speaking to your friends again they cant take the piss now because the facts speak louder! the isx is flying along with massive potential upside ( 34% this year) while all other markets are shrinking and the returns possible in a properly run fund could be in the billions for a small set up investment!
Investors pay into fund which is locked in for a period usually 1-2 years then draw out whenever there want there after!
If you do get chatting with wealthy friends and there is some interest I would be happy to meet them to discuss in further details.
If you fancy a chat about this, you can call me on 07891 289170
I think the biggest hurdle is to get someone with deep pockets to invest with you (anyone). You may need to use a professional to sell the fund to potential clients.
The thing with wealthy people is they seem to stick with what they know. I don't think there are any wealthy people on this site (not being rude) to help. The friend I brought with me to meet you is a multi millionaire and his wife just inherited millions from the lose of her parents. They know all about the ISX and say it is too risky, I had another client worth @ 20 Million pounds and he thought it probably will pay off someday, but always took the piss out of me out of me. The thing with wealthy people is they are already wealthy and are adverse to risk, how can you make them secure in their investment?
I met you in a hotel with my friend from Bucks a few years ago. I think it is a great decision to start a hedge fund it will make you rich. The part of the hedge fund I don't understand is how the investor gets paid, also do you have to visit Iraq to do this? I have a friend that is an Iraqi translator if you need help.
I am recently new member to this site and have read several of your "posts" and also visited www.DinarIndex.com ; are you an Iraqi 'national/native'? really want to get a solid knowledge of investing in Iraqi dinar also Iraqi gold+silver...do you have info on Iraqi gold+silver?
am requesting "friend" status, thnx.
