do Parsons?KBR etc. do background checks?
looking for work and i was wondering if the companies that work 'over there' do background checks on new people.
more specifically, will they hire someone who has a police record(over 20 years ago, but still...)? I don't want to waste the time if it's a lost cause.
Yes they do back ground checks, but a 20 year old felony is fine, depending on the exact job you are interested in.

KBR does a back ground covering only the last 7 years . There are other issues like passport that will have problem if back taxes ,childsupport past due etc that can bite you pst the 7 years but any Criminal background is only tracked for the last 7 years.what is crazy is the recruiter I had a few years back said if you had killed someone done tell us if its past 7 years:lmao: .I know a few that have had some problems several years ago and they since it it was prior to 7 Year time line.
there are a few (very few) that requires a secruity clearance , these jobs would go past the 7 year time line but these are very few jobs

my personal experience.....I had a non-violent felony on my record only 3 years old when I decided to try and work oversea contracting. I went to the court (Arizona) and for no fee applied to have all my rights (voting,gun ownership etc.etc) restored. I took one month for a judge to rule to restore my citizen rights and when kbr hired me I took a copy of the juducial order to them and have been overseas since and am now with ITT Industries.
bottom line I think is try to get your rights restored if you have a fellony and you will be GOOD TO GO.

hey there, the thing about background checks is this, be honest and do not leave out anything, include everything you have done or been into, cause if you leave it off and they find it, then they think you were trying to intentionally hide things, and then there goes the job.....have seen some companies go back 10 years.....

i was looking at doing that. i have to go thru Virginia for restoration. there the Governor does the restoration, not the Judge. most Governors won't waste the time(although Mark Warner signed more than all previous Govs combined-over 800).
then the City of Suffolk has decided they have the power to overrule the Governor! once you get your restoration form the Gov. you have to take it to the Judge in the City of the offense and file it with the Court. guess which city i have to go to? yup, Suffolk. their court says they will not restore rights to a very wide range of convictions.
still working on it, though.

Since when does a city governement override a state government? That's like saying that some city can override the federal government and I know that can't happen. Not legally anyway.
my thoughts as well, but unfortunately they do it often.
the only way to make them stop is to file a lawsuit($$$$). not many people in that situation have the resources to do so, and even fewer lawyers would be willing to take on the case, i imagine(at least, ones good enough to win).
You're right about the $$$$. Perhaps the ACLU might take it. I don't know, just brainstorming.
Back Round Check questions
The only thing I really have going against me is my bad credit, nothing else. I'm worried that I won't get cleared to go. Because of it, I'm not so far in debt that with this job I can't get out of it but I'm afraid it will affect my chances of going.
Kariann, dont sweat things like that. That is not what KBR is looking for when they do a background check. The background check is to satisfy the armys requirement for you to be a contractor. I have worked with people here in Iraq who owed back taxes and they still got to come over and work. Relax.
Limits
You are right concerning the background check. The back taxes is a non-issue IF the amount is less than $5000. Sometimes, over 5 grand they will let you come over IF you have something in place already, something they have agreed to in other words, to pay them back. The reason,they say,is that you could be seen as just fleeing the country to avoid the tax debt.

Getting Tougher
YES TO BACKGROUND CHECKS....I HAVE BEEN BACK IN COUNTRY SINCE MAY-05 AND LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE STAYING TIL DECEMBER-06....JUST LIKE IN EVERYTHING ELSE, IT JUST TAKES A FEW BAD APPLES TO SPOIL IT FOR THE REST AND MAKE THINGS HARDER...THE DOD, WHO OK'S YOU TO COME OVER, HAS STARTED GETTING TOUGHER ON FOLKS AND BACKGROUND CHECKS...THEY MAY START CHECKING ON THINGS THEY HAVE NOT IN THE PAST AND GOING BACK FARTHER...I AM WITH BAE SYSTEMS, AND WE NOW HAVE FOLKS TIED-UP FOR SEVERAL WEEKS LONGER BECAUSE OF THIS...THERE ARE SOME COMPANIES DOING THEIR "IN-PROCESSING" IN KUWAIT, BUT THEY STILL HAVE TO CLEAR THE DOD AS YOU BEING A CONTRACTOR AND IF STAYING IN KUWAIT, I BELIEVE FOR YOU TO HAVE THE WORK VISA IN KUWAIT.....JUST BE HONEST WITH THEM AND COVER EVERYTHING YOU SHOULD AND YOU SHOULD BE HERE COLLECTING LIKE THE REST AND PADDING YOUR DINAR-INVESTMENT..LIKE ME!!!!...
Hi ,I'm new to this post it seems that this is the only site that talks about working for KBR. I have an application in as a vector controller(pest control) for KBR. In talking with my recruiter I will be going to Houston in May. I have a misdomener on my record (6 years ago) will that slow down my processing?
