HB thank you for this bit of information on the pending 'deposits protection law', and I believe you are right on the money regarding Al Warka's situation. I just had a brief exchange via email with Al Karmal on the issue of stock transfers from Al Warka and they pointed out that Al Warka still remains under custodianship by the CBI. So it would make sense that deposit withdrawals and the 'Annual General Meeting' or AGM, are on hold until the new banking law is passed. Al Karmal specifically mentioned that Al Warka doesn't have sufficient liquidity at this time to make cash transfers possible.

On another note, I still think investors should be good to go on the issue of investing in assets denominated in IQD in Iraq. I've been following Iraqi Business News and the timely article by Ahmed Tabaqchali on the ISX and everything looks very promising.

    James,

Thank you for the messages you sent me on July 9th. They were very informative.

I had an extremely difficult time trying to read them until I figured out how to download them to text format and then upload them into MS Word.

There seems to be a conflict on the version of software being used by the forum or maybe it's just a virus. Either way I'm not able to respond to your messages except by posting something to indicate that I received them.

    Thanks.

Al Karmal seems to be doing well. I emailed today about some dividends which were recently announced.
