BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Sadrist Trend MP Hakim al-Zamili disclosed that some of the political blocs desire to have a candidate from the Sadrist Trend to assume the premiership, which matter shall be decided by Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

In a press statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, he added "no official demand was submitted, but the Sadrist Trend are still supporting the present government and its premier".

He stressed that the final word shall be for Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

Sadr called his followers to unite ranks if they wanted to form a new government.

The Sadrist Trend has 40 seats in the Parliament, out of 325, but is affiliate to the National Alliance, which has 70 seats.

The total Shiite Alliance has 159 seats in the Iraq parliament.
