You have to ask yourself, why would this guy take a chance in getting paid in dinar. I know that the big plan is about to reveal itself real soon.
Do you have a link to this story?

26 million dinars at a rate of approx 700 a million would equate to about $18k so he has done well as far as the conversion goes. If the story is true, why would he accept dinars as payment?? Curious indeed...

I have read the article and it sounds to me that the dinars may have nothing to do with his illegal activities.
They were in his house and he could well just be an invester like the rest of us.

I agree.....Gilliland was a former marine, and he may have been in Iraq, and may have accumulated some when he was there! Just a lot of maybe's.The dinars were just part of the raid...nothing more about the Iraqi dinar in this story. The $500,000 was the main story line.

["Prosecutors said that Gilliland, a former Marine, worked with two female accomplices in San Diego to coordinate smuggling operations and deliberately failed to record vehicles that ferried immigrants through border lanes under his supervision.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Tokarz described Gilliland as a "corrupt inspector."
Investigators found more than $500,000 cash in raids of Gilliland's house and those of two alleged accomplices, Tokarz said. In addition, $18,000 worth of Iraqi dinars were found in Gilliland's home."]
