Kurdistan tourism arrivals increasing by 75%

Erbil July 25 (aknews) –
the Kurdistan regional tourism body said Wednesday, increasing the proportion of tourists to the territory during the first six months of the current year 2012 by 75%, compared with the same period last year.



Spokesman for the territory's tourism body, rare rostaei, Kurdistan (aknews) reports that "according to the plan, which the intelligence body, expected tourist arrivals in Kurdistan this year to around two and a half tourists".

"The arrival of foreign tourists to the Kurdistan region, linked to the stability of the security situation in the region, and security in border areas directly affects draws tourists to tourist sites."

"The number of tourists during the first six months of the current year 2012, rose by 75% compared with the same period last year.

Rostaei noted that "throughout the Kurdistan region there are about 370 + hotels, tourist hotels and other 205 hotels popular, 180 tourist hostel (Motel), 128 of them popular tourist and rest, and 970 restaurant, 340 of them popular tourist and rest, as well as 45 tourist village".

He said that "compared to last year, the number of hotels and restaurants in the region by 25 percent."

In 2011 the past attracted about 1 million Kurdistan and 700,000 tourists.

And includes a large number of resorts and tourist areas, where it travels annually tens of thousands of Iraqis and foreigners, including countryside shaqlawa, geli, bikhal, angle, srgnar, ahamdawa, sulav, Dukan, Sarsank, and other summer resorts.
