Default What about the on going killings and violence?

Okay, I've been reading stuff on the forum and around for over a month now and I highly think this investment is viable since the reward is way more than the risk. And even if the outlook does not look good we can just goto the bank and exchange it back to dollars with maybe a loss.

But either way I was trying to ask my friends to take a look at this since I see that a measily $20 investment is really nothing to die over for, and the rewards can be substantial. Well as we all know people that haven't read the forums and whatelse are usually skeptics.

I do have a couple of friends that keep arguing that how do you think that they will even come back as a stable economy when people die there everyday. This is true, but aside from all the killings all the positive news about the FIL, HCL, and the loans prove otherwise. So I'm asking the more experienced investors here what would you say about the ongoing violence that everyone reads on CNN, NYTimes, etc. in relation to the revalue of the dinar?

And as with the people of iraq that has been supressed and brainwashed to the mentality saddam for the past 30 years. How can you expect them to just get up and accept democracy?

My take on all the killing , is that most of it is done in only 4 states in Iraq.....which isn't good , however the other 14 states are for the most part doing good... and Kurtisatnd is doing very well..having over 2000 millionairs.....and growing...The economy seems to be growing innsipte of the killings going on.....

    Newsweek International
(December 25th - January 1, 2007 edition) written by Silvia Spring in which the headline reads:

"In what might be called the mother of all surprises, Iraq's economy is
    growing strong, booming in places."
    Septemebr 16, 2007

"Part An official at the Iraqi Central Bank that the bank develop a plan in this regard to create a balance of cash exchanges and the revival of small groups of local currency such as those designed to raise the value of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar earlier!!!

Last Monday Bush was, at last, briefed on an actual plan for victory in Iraq, one that is likely to be implemented. Retired General Jack Keane, the former vice chief of staff of the Army, gave him a thumbnail sketch of it during a meeting of five outside experts at the White House. The president's reaction, according to a senior adviser, was "very positive." Authored by Keane and military expert Frederick W. Kagan of the American Enterprise Institute, the plan (which can be read at aei.org/publication25292) is well thought-out and detailed, but fundamentally quite simple...................

Why would the Keane-Kagan plan succeed where earlier efforts failed? It envisions a temporary addition of 50,000 troops on the ground in Iraq. The initial mission would be to secure and hold the mixed Baghdad neighborhoods of Shia and Sunni residents where most of the violence occurs. Earlier efforts had cleared many of those sections of the city without holding them. After which, the mass killings resumed. Once neighborhoods are cleared, American and Iraqi troops in this plan would remain behind, living day-to-day among the population. Local government leaders would receive protection and rewards if they stepped in to provide basic services. Safe from retaliation by terrorists, residents would begin to cooperate with the Iraqi government. The securing of Baghdad would be followed by a full-scale drive to pacify the Sunni-majority Anbar province..............................

The truth is that not all of Iraq needs to be addressed by an increased American presence. Most of southern Iraq and all of the Kurdish north are close to being free of sectarian violence. It's Baghdad that has become the "center of gravity" for the insurgency, according to Keane. And it could be brought under control by the end of 2007.............

    Duck....

    first GO BUY SOME MORE...

second...I live in michigan, one of the largest Iraqi re-location area's in the states....these Iraqi people are industrious, hard working and understand commerce before they understand english....they mostly are self employed, or own their own businesses...

they understand democracy, commerce, and business...and they love it....

what will happen?...they will kill each other until they get tired of it...just like in Ireland...

It may take 20 years....but the rest of the country will move on....we all hope

I'm still not sure how to argue this point when people bring up people get blown up practically everyday and we expect our investment to skyrocket. Yes even with all the killings so far the dinar has increased 17%. Anyone else like to take a stab at this contradiction of how to argue this point?

If CNN & the NY Times reported the killings taking place here in the U.S., on a daily basis, you'd likely be really hesitant to make an investment here as well. Did you know there have been over 700 murders sofar this year in L.A. County, CA alone ??? .................. and that L.A. County is relatively mild mannered as compared to say Detroit, Philly, D.C., Houston, South Miami, Chicago, etc. ???

No matter what you explain or try and tell most people they will still call you an idiot. Like Howler said follow your gut. Sometimes you have to go for the gusto. There will never in our lifetimes be an opportunity such as this one. If it all goes in the crapper one of these days oh well I took a chance and lost. The last think I want to happen to me is that I COULD have done something incredible IF ONLY I had taken a chance.

Anyone can win the lottery, but only if you have a ticket.

Good post, agree totally. Friends are split on this investment, some ridicule, some have invested. Their choice, their loss hopefully for not investing.

IMO all about WHEN not IF. Like holding a winning lotto ticket but not knowing when the draw is.

Iraq also wants a relationship between the foreign exchange market and the Iraqi dinar.

People are killed here in the U.S. everyday for a lot less reasons than these people are killed for. There will always be violence everywhere. People are going to be killed and murdered everyday in every country. I think the U.S. and Iraq have acheived what they've wanted to for stability and security. The point to this, is that Iraq has to move forward in economical and political reconciliation. Then things will really come together.
If you choose not to decide ,you still have made a choice!!!!!:)

    Brother!

People do not know what is going on unless they do better research than the daily media OR have been there to see it for themselves first hand!!!
