Red face ISX open to the willing!

I thought I found a way to buy shares on the ISX. Ive been in contact with someone in Iraq, but he was only giving me advice for when the ISX opens to foreign investors. Sorry for the confusion!

I dont know what to say. All you in Bagdad have a way in! I really didnt expect him to reply to my email. I found Hayder here:

I dont know whether to call him or not now..? Ill try and research the company. Hayder sure talks the talk!

This sounds like great news. Would they transact with interested parties located outside of Iraq?

    Default Not that I...

don't like investing with small business - but if you look further on the company research side you'll see a couple of things that might raise an eyebrow. This might be fine and might even be the way they are going to do business - but with under 5 people and less than $1mm in sales for a "brokerage" that would make me a little nervous.

    Default hayder's reply

    Dear tory,

Thank you for your email.Unfortunately for this period of time the Iraqi law does not allow the foreign to own the Iraqi stocks. There are tow ways to trade in ISX under the present condition:

1- To make the stocks registered in the name of an Iraqi citizen authorized and trusted from your side.

2- To appoint my bureau to be your asset manager to run a part of your account in trading in the ISX under your directions.

I manage many private Iraqi accounts beside my account in the ISX. I manage accounts with the directions and consultancy of my partner Dr. Talib Al-Tabatabai. He is the head of the ISX council. He is a friend to my family, very trusted and well-known person.

My bureau is registered to Baghdad Chamber Of Commerce as commercial agents.

I will provide you with any information you may request to build a strong base of trust between us.

    Waiting for your reply soon.

Thank you again and best regards.

    Your obedient servant,

    HAYDER MEKKI OBAIDA

    Question my reply

toryangski, I also received that reply.

I think the next step should be to get him registered on this forum. Then we can chat with him, PM him, and get his explanations posted.

I'll tell him to post on this thread if he gets registered with us.

    Dear Mr. **Tyred**,

I am very glad to be in contact with a USA person. Since July 2003, I am in contact with many USA companies. I believe that only the USA companies and investors deserve to invest and do business with Iraq. USA helped Iraq to be free and to build its future and Iraqis must return favor.

I wish to deal with you in several sectors and not only in ISX. Please send me your profile and contacts details.

The project which I am working on now, is to make my bureau as a center for the USA companies and investors to provide directions, consultancy and services for them inside Iraq. It is an honor if you accept to be my partner in this project.

I need your help, directions and contacts to achieve this project. I was looking for a USA person to share him my project and my good luck led me to you.

I specially need the support of the USA Embassy in Baghdad.

I have tried to register to www.investorsiraq.com many times but my user name was not accepted. Please advice how can I register correctly. Thank you very much for sending my name to many investors.

    Waiting for your reply soon.

    Best regards.

I think the next step should be to get him registered on this forum. Then we can chat with him, PM him, and get his explanations posted. It appears in order for us to own shares we need to be registered with his bureau as a company. Or we can trust that he will buy and sell in his companies name with our money. That's a trust that will be hard to earn! He sounds a bit like a salesman.

I'll tell him to post on this thread if he gets registered with us.

I emailed the ISX about Hydar and foreign investors. Foreign investors can not trade (yeah you all know already). Just thought I'd post their reply. Making a business or trusting someone to do it in their name are the only ways. NOTE :NEAR-TERM

    Dear **Tyred**

The Iraq Stock Exchange and Iraq Securities Commission are looking forward to inviting foreign investors to invest in the ISX in the near-term. The ISX is formulating regulatory policy to facilitate such investments. Following ISC approval, foreign investors will be invited to participate in the ISX. The starting date for foreign investment will be posted here.

    Thanks
