Nineveh provincial Council, said on Wednesday, Nineveh Governor atheel Al-nujaifi authorization validity of contracts with oil companies to invest in mining and oil filter in the province and the disputed areas with Kurdistan region, with the contracts would be limited to certain requirements to ensure access for maintenance.

Member of the provincial Council of Nineveh Hussam Eddine al-Abbar told the (term), "the provincial Council of Nineveh held its fourth meeting in the Council Chamber in the presence of 35 members, to discuss the theme of empowering the Governor the power to contract with the oil companies."

He explained that "the Council voted at most 25 of 35 members, the Governor of Nineveh atheel Al-nujaifi for three years, negotiating contracts with oil companies, investing in extraction of solid and oil filter, in areas under the authority of the province and the disputed areas with Kurdistan."

He explained that "contracts would be specific conditions to ensure that such contracts, for the province, where the Governor, briefed the Council on the progress of negotiations and to submit a report semi-annually, include what has been achieved during this period, so the Council exercises its role as regulator in this area."
