Al-Maliki inaugurated the branch Chairman of the Standard Chartered Bank in Baghdad



Al-Maliki called for national banking institutions to take advantage of the expertise that could be provided by the Bank and its branches which will open later in Basrah and Erbil

Baghdad/Obelisk: Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Wednesday, President of branch Standard Chartered Bank of Britain.

Al-Maliki said in a speech to the opening ceremony, and its dependency, "the Obelisk", "we are today before a turning point in the economic field by entering the international banks to Iraq, and our desire to make the process of building and reconstruction that require a successful banking operations."

Al-Maliki said that "international banks send a message that Iraq is not isolated from the world, and represents an important step towards enhancing the interaction between the international and Iraqi banks", "happy to be such a bank partner for Iraq."

He called Al-Maliki "national banking institutions to take advantage of the expertise that could be provided by the Bank and its branches which will open later in Basra and Erbil."

The Central Bank announced, on Tuesday, 3 September, agreed in principle to the British Standard Chartered Bank opened a branch in Baghdad for its business banking by the end of this year.
