Thumbs up Assassination attempt on Muqtada Al-sadr

    Feb 20, 2008

I think this is related to Muqtada’s sudden decision today “Cleric threatens to end Iraq ceasefire“, the “Breaking News” report on Nahrain Net [Sadrists website] says; the symptoms started since month ago probably the attempt was done by a toxic or a radio active material.

The source said; there are suspicions of American - Israeli and possibly British intelligences behind this assassination attempt.

This source did not give more details but he said that the situation is under control.

Related to the Al-Sadr directly, Al-Arab reported that the Commander of the Awakening Council Sheikh Saad Al-lihebi [everybody wants to be a Sheikh these days] in of Fallujah, warned that Mahdi Army army fighters will treated just like Al-Qaeda members in case they resume their activities.

Al-lihebi says that the Awakening Council deserves all the credits for restoring stabilities in 33% of Iraq.

Regarding the decision of Miliki’s Government to merge 20% of Awakening members to the Iraqi army and police he said: We asked for 40% and they refuse, but we believe that the decision is made by the U.S. and not by Al-Maliki or his government, we are negotiating with the Americans only.

The word "Attempt" always has a bad meaning for me.

Either do something the right way or don't do it.

Here is the key part of this article and shows the tightrope balancing act in their attempts to reconcile with each other, notice these words!

"Regarding the decision of Miliki’s Government to merge 20% of Awakening members to the Iraqi army and police he said: We asked for 40% and they refuse, but we believe that the decision is made by the U.S. and not by Al-Maliki or his government, we are negotiating with the Americans only.

If it had been an Israeli or British intelligence operation I doubt he'd still be breathing. I'm not so sure about our abilities anymore. But that may change this November:

"I believe that the Mahdi Army continues to pose a threat," Sen. John McCain said in Arizona last week. "I believe al-Sadr has to be taken out."

Had he not killed this cleric, Iraq would be much better off today:

In April 2004, an Iraqi judge issued an arrest warrant charging al-Sadr with the murder of a rival cleric, Abdul Majid al-Khoei. The U.S.-backed al-Khoei was hacked to death in April 2003, allegedly by al-Sadr's followers, as he left a Shiite shrine in Najaf.

If the U.S, Israeli or the Brits wanted Muqtada Al-sadr dead he would have been gone a long time ago.

Remember a couple of months back when they caught a Shark 150 miles up the Tigris River, and they blamed the U.S. for planting the Shark there to kill or eat the Iraqies, come on give the U.S. a break

Fisherman nets shark 200 km from sea

    Tue 30 Oct 2007, 9:17 GMT

    [-] Text [+]

NASSIRIYA, Iraq (Reuters) - A two-metre shark has been caught in a river in southern Iraq more than 200 km (160 miles) from the sea.
Karim Hasan Thamir said he was fishing with his sons last week when they spotted a large fish thrashing about in his net. "I recognised the fish as a shark because I have seen one on a television programme," he told Reuters.
The shark was pulled from the mouth of an irrigation canal that joins the Euphrates River. The Euphrates joins the Tigris River further east to form the Shatt al-Arab waterway which flows south past Basra into the Gulf.

Dr. Mohamed Ajah, assistant dean of the college of science at Thi Qar University in Nassiriya, said barriers in river estuaries usually prevented sharks swimming upstream.
"In this case, I think this animal was there for a long time but no one had managed to see it," he said.
Locals blamed the U.S. military for the shark's presence.
Tahseen Ali, a teacher, said there was a "75 percent chance" Americans had put the shark in the water.

That story is totally inane. For the CIA to put a shark in the river, really now. Sharks heve been known to leave salt water, swim upstream into fresh and survive. As for the assination attempt, I still believe this is a ploy of the Iraqi Government to try to gain more publicity for the Maliki's Administration. Remember, supposedly Sadr has given Maliki three days to complete the task or he may turn his militia loose.

they also believe that you get typhoid from too much sun (not from wiping your butt with your hand then eating) and they believe that the US was useing giant laser wepons from space to take out instalations before we sent the troops in, they throw used oil and dirty diesel fuel on the ground because they think it will go back to the researves to be pumped out and used at a later date ( primitive recycling). it sounds like i am jokeing, but i can't tell you how many arguments i got into with my iraqi workers regarding these silly issues and many more. they are a very gullable people for the most part and will believe whatever thier leader tells them to believe.

Default Al-Sadr says cease-fire could end on Saturday

Al-Sadr says cease-fire could end on Saturday

Anti-US cleric Muqtada al-Sadr may let a six-month cease-fire expire as soon as Saturday, an aide said -- a move that could send his Shiite militia fighters back out on the streets and jeopardize recent security gains that have led to a sharp decline in violence.

Iraqi police, meanwhile, held funerals on Wednesday for 14 officers killed the night before as they responded to a rocket attack launched from a predominantly Shiite neighborhood against bases in the capital. In a separate attack, three American troops were killed by a roadside bomb Tuesday night in northwestern Baghdad, the military said. Their names were not released. Al-Sadr's Shiite Mahdi Army is among the most powerful militias in Iraq, and the cease-fire he ordered last August has been credited with helping reduce violence around Iraq by 60 percent or more in the past six months. Sheik Salah al-Obeidi, a spokesman for al-Sadr in the Shiite holy city of Najaf, said that if the cleric failed to issue a statement by Saturday saying that the cease-fire was extended, "then that means the freeze is over." Al-Sadr's followers would be free to resume attacks. :no2:
