    Default Privacy and Security

A few members PMd me with privacy concerns. I would like to remind all users of this forum of some precautions everyone should take:

    1. Don't use your real name. Do not disclose to anyone and for any reason.
    2. Do not disclose your e-mail address. E-mail addresses cannot be posted on this forum as per the rules - but be careful not to share it with anyone via PMs.
    3. Do not disclose how much money you have in your bank accounts. Self explanatory.
    4. Do not share your address.
    5. Be weary of emails you get. If by chance fraudsters get a hold of your email address - they could fake emails from Warka or from this forum.

I am sure there is more advice out there so if you have good advice, go ahead and post.
Two ways to support this forum:

    1. Buy Iraqi Dinar from Amer and get access to supporter forum
    2. Buy Dinar from SafeDinar to access the supporter forum

I would add to the list to consider not posting your real picture.

Not because you have anything to hide but because there are
    crazy people on the internet.

No offense to those who posted their pics, its your call.

And I enjoyed seeing what some of you look like.

The problem imo is that people you dont even know can view it too.

You can if you so chose edit the pic out of your post, or not.

I'm guilty of some of those. Thanks Dan.

This is the only one I am guilty of...I swear! :o

I just tend to get carried away at times...and it was fun to see real pictures of everyone! Thanks for the advice and concern!

I agree with the general sentiment but I think the concerns are overblown.

Honestly, if someone's car can survive the 5 mile trip down my road, they still need to get past my shotgun, Glock, and two dogs (and my wife ain't a bad shot either).

I imagine you're safe :) But not everyone has that same set up.

    Have a great day!

I agree, but if it's THAT life threatening, then maybe one should re-consider posting on the internet altogether. I was being somewhat facetious but still had the same attitude when I lived in town.

This reminds me a bit of my dad -- absolutely REFUSES to buy anything online because his credit card could be stolen... and yet has no problem handing his card to a waitress or clerk that could easily swipe his number

Swartzfeger seems to have alot of bases covered (especially the Glock ) but I think the items posted here a very legitimate concerns and serve as a friendly reminder, especially to those who may not be aware of "good internet practices".

Every little bit of information you give out about yourself, it one step closer to having one of an assortment of problems related to internet use. Everything from junk mail to computer problems to identity theft to dangerous encounters have resulted from poor internet practices.

It is very easy to get too comfortable in an environment like this where "regulars" post. By the time you know it, you are trusting too many people and anyone of them can be a predator. You can never be too prudent on the internet.

A recent survey revealed that the majority of people who surf the internet do not have minimal security issues addressed such as an antivirus program or a firewall. I would say that most are: aren't aware of the danger, too naive to understand the danger or just too lazy to address the danger. Without basic security elements, it would be best for some to re-consider using the internet.

If anyone is impressed by the activivty on this forum, let me tell you that there are, by far, more people in this world trying to break into our computers to get our personal information than there are people trying to buy dinar.

    Here's a good list of Do's and Don'ts:

Agreed, and I don't mean to be cavalier about the issue of internet security. Clearly, posting personal information like addresses, phone numbers and the like can be dangerous.

However, I think the issue of using real pics for avatars and a few other concerns are really non-issues.

To play devil's advocate with myself, it's always better to be safer than sorry.

And this is my dyed hair pic avatar, so no IIFers would recognize me in person anyway. :P
